Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Something that came to me last night but Luke, Leia, Vader and Obi-Wan have their own themes in ANH.

Did Lucas already have bigger plans for Leia back then in 1977? The way Lucas is he may have decided Leia would be Luke's sister then dismissed it only for him to do one of his famous change of mind at the end of filming Empire.

Its strange how those 4 have their own themes yet Han Solo doesn't??? Neither does Tarkin and he has as much screen time as anybody in ANH.

Leia was never originally Luke's sister or Vader's daughter. He made it up as he went along.

Drafts might of had some of the ideas, but as far as 1977 or even 1980 goes, Leia wasn't Luke's sister.

I think the reason Solo doesn't have a "theme" per se is because he's the rogue. Luke is the hero, of course he has a theme. Leia is the Princess, of course she has a theme. Isn't Vader's "theme" in Star Wars just the imperial theme that Stomtroopers and Tarkin have? And I'm pretty sure Obi-Wan's "theme" is just the force.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

i very much hope it is not Favreau.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Me too. That guy is a decent actor but as a director, he seems to be more focused on inserting himself into the story rather than actually focusing on the directing.

Sorry i was just trying to wind Khev up but he didn't bite :(

Yeah Vader's theme is the Imperial March but so is the Emperor's but they have significant differences in both key and tempo, Obi-Wan's The Force theme as its known is the same as Luke's just in a different key and tempo. I think it was really retconned for the prequels as Obi-Wan's theme as i can't recall it ever when he appeared as a ghost.

As for Leia being Luke's sister, really anybody who's interested in this should read Rinzler's The Making of Empire Strikes Back, in it theres photos of the notes that Kirshner jotted down during filming. Kirshner knew of the change and discussed it with Carrie Fisher during the final days of the shoot, when or why it was changed is open to speculation with most people thinking that Lucas' 9 film plan was being reduced to 3 after the various problems that occured.

In the notes Kirshner is explaining the reasoning to Leia's reactions whilst sitting in the Falcon's cockpit. Khev uses Gary Kurtz as a source to discount this but Lucas had already removed him for the production after they went massively over budget. Howard Kazanjian finished Empire as producer and also filmed some 1st and 2nd unit scenes along with Lucas and David Tomblin.

I think you know more about this than most people know about their own job. :lol

Based on what? Cause he plays a minor character in Iron Man?

He hasn't directed much, but Elf is hilarious and the Iron Man movies are great; he definitely has shown he has a good range. I haven't seen Zarathustra, did he insert himself in that or something?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

This has definitely become one of those threads I wish would STFU until we get some decent information. :lol

:exactly: :goodpost:

All this arguing over who wrote this or who did that is stupid and pointless.

That or at least have people posting pics of Carrie Fisher in her prime while theres no new news. :)

:lecture :D

I always liked these two of Carrie. :D

I'm glad it won't be Abrams. Favreau would be a safe albeit uninspired choice. As long as it isn't Lucas, Sommers, or Emmerich then they should at least be better than the PT so its kind of nice to just relax and see who it is and not be waiting with baited breath.

I agree with this. Also, Matthew Vaughn is a top rumor as well.
