Everyone's expecting Luke to turn to the dark side in Ep 7 and then back in 9, surely that would be way to predictable for Arndt?

Sorry, I haven't been following this thread, who Arndt? the writer?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Arndt won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for writing Little Miss Sunshine (2006), and was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for writing Toy Story 3 (2010).”

:dunno

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Take heart. He knows how to write characters, something Lucas doesn't understand.

Arndt is writing ep. 7. Lawrence Kasdan, screenwriter of The Empire Strikes Back and Simon Kinberg (XMen:FC, Sherlock Holmes) are writing the other two.

Definitely like that, never saw Little miss Sunshine, but Toy Story 3 is imo probably the best of the series and I loved FC and Sherlock Holmes.

I dunno, i'm just excited. There's just no way in hell this can be as poor as the prequels.

Agreed on this, it would be quite an achievement to make them worse.

:lol

I hope not.

Anyhow, I'm late to this thread. Anyone talk about force ghosts or is there any mention they would be included?

There hasn't been any mention of anything :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Yeah, that's something that should never happen. It would pretty much screw over all of the previous movies if it happened.

I'd like to see them do the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, but that would take way more than 3 movies.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The problem with the SW film universe right now is the Empire is the only threat. They really need someone else they can occasionally structure stories around. The Yuuzhan Vong were created by Marvel Comics because after ROTJ they needed someone else for the heroes to fight.

Now that Disney owns SW they probably are putting some thought into establishing villains that can be used beyond ep.9. It would be a good idea if they introduced or teased them in the next three films.

Teasing villains is never a good idea. It makes them do even more villainous things.

I really liked the Vong in the books, especially "Vector Prime"
and the shocking death of Chewie, because in my opinion that's exactly what it would take to kill "The Mighty Chewbacca", an entire moon falling on him
. But they might be a little too "adult" for the kiddies that Disney will definitely want to include in the group of movie-goer audiences that will be growing up with their new Trilogy.
