Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

What did you guys think of the original Clone Wars movie? Where we see that Anakin had a secret feisty padawan between films and they go rescue Jabba the Hutt's son Stinky?

Gawd, that was horrible. By far the Star Wars Nadir, for me. In fact the stink of that is still why I can't get into the CW show to this day.

I enjoyed Zahn's trilogy. They hit me at just the right time, were close enough in tone to the original series, but different enough at the same time.

Also, I enjoyed Greg Bear's "Outbound Flight" as a one off. He's a great sci-fi writer.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I thought Clone Wars from the movie to about the first half of season 1 was pretty weak, but after ep14 of season 1 I was hooked.

The problem I have with Zahn's trilogy is that nothing of any importance happens, the characters are the same going in as they come out, except for Mara Jade, the only thing important that happens is that Leia gives birth to the twins, that's it. Thrawn's a bad guy, they defeat him, that's it.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I always thought that Thrawn was a great villain due to his brilliance. How he figured things out (through study of art) was really cool. A very different type of foe for the republic. I loved that trilogy.

I enjoyed the lust for power and how Thrawn obsessed about controlling the Skywalkers. The journey of Luke fighting the dark side, all the characters returned. The creatures that blocked the force were a bit far feched especially now that Lucas has made it bacterial companions in their bodies.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

If this is true, I'm cool with that. I may not like the new Trek movie, there's no doubt it's not sharp movie with a good cast. I also love, Love, LOVE "Super 8."

If this is true, I hope there is minimal lens flare. This is not a reboot/facelift like his Trek films are. This is a sequel/continuation. I hope unlike George, he can make this world look like the same world we were introduced to with the OT.

If this is true.... Because that Snyder thing was shot down. I don't really believe this is true.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Begs the question... If Abrams is directing does that mean we can count on Michael Giaccino to compose the soundtrack? :panic:

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Excellent news, lets hope it's true.
And I hope they can get Williams back for at least the first movie.
They seem to be trying to make it a "pure" Star Wars movie, approaching drew Struzan to do the posters etc, so maybe they will throw a load of cash at Williams to kick start things.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

As long we we get more solid fun within this universe I'm game. Looking forward to seeing where Abrams takes things.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I love JW, but I doubt he would be interested to be honest.
