-Main Mcguffin-like character who is a pivotal point in the existence of main antagonist and who is implied could aid in fixing the situation is revealed at the very end of the movie.
-One of the co-protagonists is left in a comma with a halfassed goodbye from the other protagonist and an unfinished arc.
-The other protagonist also has an unfinished arc.
-Movie literally states main antagonist still has development left, another unfinished arc.

As opposed to:
-All protagonists in ANH complete a personal arc

Yeah, a movie that shows the villain escaping is definitely more contained than one where the escape is only implied.

Yeah no, totally.

I'm not sure if you "got" who the three main characters were in TFA so I'll help you out. They were Finn, Rey, and Han (not Poe.) All three had completed arcs. And the villains had ambiguous off-screen escapes instead of literally watching them flee. But I'm detecting that the ambiguity of their escapes also slipped by you. And coma? Really? So ALIENS wasn't a self-contained movie? I--wait, nevermind, I'm just going to leave this one alone. Yeah, you totally, uh "owned" me or whatever. Carry on.

Sigh....they really were.

Should've been IG-88 and Fett.

IG-88 and the C3po with a gun guy. Or Armored Diaper Man. Or the lizard guy.

Boba would have been, what 90 years old? Get off my lawn, han? Besides......burp. Dead.

Then have Fett get killed again by a tentacle monster.

Oh man, I would have paid to see the movie again if that was in it.

An SOLO mah boi, yer a dead mon m8. U owe meh a wee bit a moneh.

In the SE Jabba keeps saying to Han, "Han me boukee," (Han my boy) over and over. But if you watch ROTJ Jabba tells Luke "Your mind powers will not work on me BOY." But the "Huttese" he speaks does not end the sentence with "boukee." Just another sloppy ass goof by the Special Editions.

Sigh....they really were.

Should've been IG-88 and Fett.

I liked the red dudes. One of them even tags Chewie. Not sure how well ESB bounty hunters would have gone over in a movie already bursting at the seams with OT references.

Tell us again how many viewings it took you to realize that Luke's lightsaber was in the movie. :monkey3

I wouldn't call Han a protagonist, more like a major supporting character, but ok, his death served to feed the unfinished arc of the antagonist so it's all the same.

You think the girl about whom we know nothing, other than the implied existence of a backstory, who wanted to stay on the Jakku because someone was going to eventually come back for her, because of said backstory, which is never resolved, yet starts another arc without finishing the first one has a closing arc? With the audience still not knowing who she is? Okay.

You think Kylo also completed an arc? Or Finn? Do you honestly think so? Then alright. To each their own, I guess. Neither ANH or TFA are completely self-contained, they both leave long term loose ends, but ANH definitely feels way more self contained than TFA to me.

Aliens is a completely different scenario though, but you seem to be a bit touchy atm so ok we'll leave it a that.
