I think when hard copies eventually go away, I will feel far less compelled to actually own the movies I like. It's bad enough that Blu's have been reduced to flimsy packaging with nothing inside them, I miss the days when they put some effort into the packaging. Nothing beats a nice, creative package you can actually hold in your hands and look at, even having a steelbook that at least feels like it has substance to it is a big step up from these cheap packages that feel like they'd fall apart if you look at them wrong. Digital is great for when your on the go, but it does little to inspire. Besides, with digital, I feel like if the hard drive dies, I lose everything I had on it.

I guess it's a generational thing.

I agree

I miss it too. But let's face it like CDs, blu Rays will be obsolete in a few years. Everything will be digital and mobile, also everything will be on your tv like it is now.

For me, it's a space saver. I just simply have no more space for DVDs and blu ray. So I don't mind streaming. My Fire tv, Roku and Apple TV are the best and it's convient that I can just flip to a movie one moment, check out and go back to YouTube the next. Instead of changing discs. As well as watching something on my iPad or phone when I'm streaming on

I went to Bestbuy the other day and boy times are changing. Their DVDs and blu Ray section used to be at least 15 aisles long depending on the setup, now less than
8 and some are DVDs crammed in with blu rays :horror

So I decided to check out the blu Ray players, wow not only have blu ray players been reduced to the bare minimum in features, but it's pretty much a device for apps

Digital has many many limitations.
Sound, image and 3D.

Give me a nice 3 disc Blu-ray pack any day. They are huge in Europe always have been even before the format took off in US. Next it will be 4K ultra HD sticks, still a physical format.. :lol

I see that the Disney Store blu-ray set not only comes with the 14x10 Lithographs but also has the best cover for the disc itself (logo on star field.) Ordered.

Nah, not the same thing at all. They are not doing that to be PC, they have a female comedy group and director from a smash hit comedy and it fitted the ghostbusters mold. Don't forget the original ghostbusters was a SNL *spin off* comedy.

And it's it's pretty obvious it's not trying to be PC over the hilarious racist comments it's getting about its *token* black character.
:lol
Dude really, Jesus :lol

And they ARE trying to be PC, that's even how they tried to get good buzz going when they announced the movie, by stressing the fact that it would be "female centric" to appeal to the Tumblr crowd, it's just that SWJ are very cannibalistic and just now they realized nothing will please them :lol they thought the black token would be ignored because they're all womyn, because these people always have hilarious double standards, but nope, that didn't save them this time.

People tend to overlook the costs involved with digital streaming.

Bluray costs you the price of the disc only and an inexpensive bluray player.

Have you seen the monthly costs involved with even a measly 50/50 connection?

Good luck with those greedy internet companies with the proper bandwith required for 4K/HDR streaming. :lol

You're paying alot more than you would for a disc, for lesser quality! :slap

CDs were supposed to be obsolete years ago, yet they're still here and I buy them. Most people can find them online cheaper than in store these days. They get rid of CDs, I'll go back to vinyl.

It's so funny how everybody loses their mind over all this, use some common sense, do you seriously believe your going to see a gay romance in Star Wars?

Well it's Disney so I'm going to go with "possibly." And with all this *constant* talk about it from everyone from Abrams to Isaacs to Hamill it's really feeling like the writing is on the wall in some pretty big ass letters. Let's just say that "I have a bad feeling about this." Bad enough that I'm going to continue to embrace the OT and TFA but I won't be preordering any Episode VIII figures, art, etc., until after I see the actual film.

OT + TFA is the only Star Wars featuring Han, Luke, and Leia (alive anyway) so it will actually be pretty easy for me to compartmentalize if need be.

I simply think someone asked JJ a loaded question, and his response is basically that sure, there are gay characters in Star Wars, as there are bound to be in any large population. That however was interpreted as "they are going to turn Star Wars into Brokeback Mountain"! Now since it has caught fire on the Internet, Disney isn't going to shy away from the added exposure, they are simply instructing their cast and crew to be vague about the answer, because a direct "no" would end the conversation, and that's the last thing Disney wants. Disney would rather have a burning house than a vacant house that nobody cares about.

Disney is also realistic, and they know that an openly gay character is likely to turn off just as many people as those that would applaud it. So will there be gay characters in Star Wars? Sure, but it's something that will likely be open to your own personal interpretation and identification. Disney has the golden goose, they aren't going to rock the boat and risk turning off a large portion of their fan base.

They would indeed be reducing their own profits if they make Luke gay (my head tells me they can't be that stupid but my gut wonders otherwise) or have Finn and Poe fall for each other onscreen or what have you. And I'm hoping, really hoping, that the "almighty dollar" forces them to not get too crazy. Because there are many more millions of people like me who'd buy a single ticket, go "wow, no thanks," and then would be done with the movie (instead of seeing it 5-10 times) than there would be people doing the reverse. They've got to know that, the question is does their crusade for the agenda actually, possibly, outweigh their desire for maximum profit?

It's no coincidence that Poe zooms around in a black X-Wing called 'Black One' later in the film.

Don't worry, maximum profits have always been Disney's #1 priority.
