Not saying this necessarily applies to your friend, but a lot of guys have the "biggest collection" mentality. They'll amass a huge library just for the sake of saying "mine's bigger than yours".

I try to be ultra-selective, since I'll rarely repeat-watch even my favourite stuff. Plus it makes navigation easier.

You may be right, he says he barely watches it. :lol

I'm with you on keeping what matters most.

So if a girl says that you video library is a "nice size" she's really saying it's small? :monkey3

You know what they say about men with big hard drives. :lol

AMEN!
Thats the Beauty of PLEX also.....I delete movies in favor of other all the time.

I may be selective on the movie front, but my love of classic TV has blown my library out to several terabytes (I just had to drop that in, didn't I!)

That's been the most time-consuming part, ripping complete series of all those retro shows from DVD (and sometimes Blu-Ray), then adding iTunes metadata and artwork for every episode.

Some of my favorites:

  • Star Trek (TOS, Remastered & spinoffs)
  • Battlestar Galactica (modern & classic)
  • Buck Rogers
  • Six Million Dollar Man
  • Bionic Woman
  • Planet of the Apes
  • Man From Atlantis
  • Logan's Run
  • Gemini Man
  • Lone Ranger
  • Adventures of Superman
  • Superboy
  • Incredible Hulk
  • Shazam!
  • Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew
  • A-Team
  • Knight Rider
  • CHiPs
  • T.J. Hooker
  • Charlie's Angels
  • Dallas
  • Gilligan's Island
  • Brady Bunch
  • Happy Days
  • Mork & Mindy
  • Get Smart
  • Diff'rent Strokes

... plus heaps of animated series.

My next project is to rip the Batman '66 series from Blu-ray!

I only have a few shows to rip, but been looking on how to do it.

I WANT to be able to choose and episode. Right now all I can do it a full rip of the disc. What do you do to split them up? I'd love to do this.

When asked about why Leia didn't hug Chewbacca after Han Solo's death -- opting to embrace Rey, a complete stranger, instead -- Abrams said he understood why some fans felt like the princess-turned-Resistance leader had dissed Han's Wookie partner at one of his saddest moments.

"That was probably one of the mistakes I made in that," Abrams told /Film. "My thinking at the time was that Chewbacca, despite the pain he was feeling, was focused on trying to save Finn and getting him taken care of. So I tried to have Chewbacca go off with him and focus on Rey, and then have Rey find Leia and Leia find Rey. The idea being that both of them being strong with the Force and never having met, would know about each other — that Leia would have been told about her beyond what we saw onscreen and Rey of course would have learned about Leia. And that reunion would be a meeting and a reunion all in one, and a sort of commiseration of their mutual loss."

Abrams went on to blame his blocking of the scene for why it appeared to some fans as if Leia had brushed off Chewbacca.

I assumed Leia was having a "senior moment" and simply forgot who Chewbacca was.

Either that or she was angry with him for hiding her dentures.

I maintain Chewbacca was off to burn Han's porn stash and warn his goomada not to get all hysterical at the bad news in front of The Committee.

But do you watch them? :lol
I used to do stuff like this when i was younger.

Hehe, I'm forcing myself! The original intention was to share them with my kids but they don't seem interested.

HandBrake lets you rip individual chapters.

Disclaimer: Maybe we're not permitted to talk about this stuff on here, but I've always believed people who actually pay for content have a moral (if not legal) right to convert it to any format they choose.

Had a two day work conference in Las Vegas and flew back yesterday evening on only four and a half hours of sleep, jet lag, and a slight hangover. After taking my seat I think I passed out before we even left the runway. I heard no announcements, no safety tips, none of that. But then I hear some noise and wake up and look around a bit disoriented. I glance up at the ceiling monitor and what do a I see but Max Von Sydow handing Poe the map to Luke Skywalker. WTF????

I was instantly awake and watched the whole damn movie on mute. Fastest two and a half hour flight I've ever taken in my life. And let me say that on a 13 inch screen, no 3D, no awesome IMAX formatting for the Falcon chase, no SOUND at all, that The Force Awakens still rocks. Honestly seeing it on a 13 inch monitor with a little wavy line (due to whatever interference) that would sometimes pass through the middle of the screen it almost felt like what I imagine it would have been to watch pan and scan TFA on VHS back in the day just like with the old movies.

I still grinned ear to ear at the Falcon chase, I still chuckled at some of the funny lines and head nods from Chewie (with no sound!) the whole movie just works and needs no big screen presentation to do so. If that isn't the mark of a good sci-fi adventure then I don't know what is. We even hit some turbulence when the TIE Fighters started attacking Maz' castle which made me think "cool, D-box." :lol The only thing that sucked was that we began our final descent before the film ended and the pilot killed the monitors when Rey was still dueling Kylo. A lady a few seats over shouted "oh come on!" which led to random laughter. Hopefully that wasn't her first time seeing the movie. If so no Luke Skywalker for her. :lol
