Its all about POV. Vader has his faults in killing Padme and not saving her. The movie could dwelve into that without Padme. Also, he wanted peace amongst the galaxy. Vader did not choose to blow up Alderaan; Tarkin did.

There's scum like Jabba and other gangs whom make the galaxy a bad place. Plus, the Emperor always seemed to challenge him. Vader wanted to kill him and have Luke at his side. Perhaps he could be on the run from other dark siders who want be the Emperor's right hand. Or the Emperor ordered them to see if he was worthy enough.

If HBO can make Dexter, a serial killer, sympathetic, good filmmakers can do the same.

well technically the Emperor lied to Vader. when Vader & Luke battle in ESB, Vader says: "Luke, you can destroy the Emperor. He has foreseen this. It is your destiny! Join me, and together, we can rule the galaxy as father and son! Come with me. It is the only way."

But in ROTJ, the Emperor wants Luke to kill his father to join side by side with the Emperor. When he cuts off Vaders hand the Emperor says: "Good! Your hate has made you powerful. Now, fulfill your destiny and take your father's place at my side!"

So i think thats important because Vader thought it would be him and Luke together, but now the Emperor wants Vader out and i think then he realizes he was wrong about Emperor/Palpatine.

The Emperor has wanted Vader out of the picture for a while and has hired people to kill him on numerous occasions. Whether this was just to simply fuel his hate, or he wanted someone else.

When 3PO says "oh my without the republic fleet we're doomed, well where was the republic fleet?

Why wouldn't general leia have them at the ready to attack starkiler base which is much bigger than the death star?

Whatever fallout happened between the resistance and the republic should've been explained better.

Was the republic sympathizing with Snoke?

Well anyways, what that tells me is that they held back the republic fleet for a reason.

That tells me they will make a huge entrance in some grand climatic SW fashion in 8 or 9, so we just might see a space and ground battle that dwarfes RO! :thud:

I also caught on that they made it a point to keep showing Kylo's face which is opposite of Vader who was always masked for life support and disfigurement reasons.

So Kylo is a half Anakin from ROTS and half Vader from OT.

But that also tells me that Kylo is headed for some disfigurement himself.

Unless it's Rey that becomes disfigured. :horror

Back to the republic, what will victory look like at the end of 9 when compared to the end of ROTJ?

Anyways, i'm on my SW high so I watched TFA in 3D only 7 feet away from an 80" tv and I have to admit that I was entertained even with all the good accomplished in ROTJ being nowhere to be found.

Go ahead, watch Leia say goodbye to Han before he takes off to Starkiller base and try not to tear up. "Wasn't all bad was it, some of it was pretty good".

Then Han dies, more brutal.

Then go watch Carrie's last interview and really lose it.

Also when the Falcon landed fast onto the snow they should've used the engine noise to show that Han was using the engine thrusters to stop it. They show the engine lights turned on but no engine noise, minor nitpick. Just go watch it you'll see what I mean lol.

Luke's scene still makes my hair stand up on my neck, so electrifying for such a static scene, the music is awesome there.

One more thing, Han's hand is covering Leia's ear on the side shot of her resting her head on his chest then when it cuts to a front shot of Han his hand is on her neck, see what happens when you sit that close to a tv lol.

The Republic Fleet was destroyed by Starkiller Base. All the ships were orbiting the final planet that was destroyed and you see them get vaporized. Hux makes a reference to "their precious fleet" in his speech right before firing the weapon, then they obliterate it and 3PO says "without the fleet we're doomed" because it really is gone.

Glad to hear that TFA is still holding up post-RO.

I sat that close and I still didn't see the republic fleet get wiped out lol.

Well, then I was wrong, no big space battle in 8 or 9.

Oh well, i'm not going to go watch them anymore.

Rey has already given Kylo facial disfigurement no?

Did not notice the Republic Fleet being destroyed, they really ought to have set some scene on a command ship earlier in the film and made more of a point of it when they get wiped out.

Episode 9 victory will be shortlived as they next battle the......Second Order with an even biggerer superweapon that can destroy 10 planets!!!

I thought those were other planets? not a fleet?

hence the quick cuts to other planets being destroyed by the lasers.

The First Order should be in shambles after the Starkiller was destroyed. That base had the equivalence of like what, 10 Death Stars? Sucker was huge. They had all their eggs in one basket. Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers, their officers, the fleet, everything.

Even if you want to say that the man power was able to escape like Hux and Ren somehow, financially they would be utterly ruined. It's not like they arm/fist were stretched out among the galaxy like the Empire was.

But nope, Episode 8 has new Stormtroopers coming. :lol

Well, who knows? TFO could be bigger than what we originally thought. I mean, we know Snoke has to have a crib, with plenty of stormtroopers. Plus massive TFO fleets etc. It might have been their main cookie, but we still got to find the malk.

People should also remember that the Republic (which we saw destroyed) and the Resistance (which Leia commanded) are two different entities.
