While the starkiller base snow-cold part didn't bother me, starkiller base itself sucking on a sun plus the force on steroids does modernize what was pretty basic tech and spirituality in ANH and even ESB.

I liked Starkiller just because the name itself goes back to Lucas' earliest notes for Luke's original last name and I think that it's neat that it really does "kill" a star. I also think the whole day to night countdown was pretty cool regardless of how they explained it.

how could the beams reach the capital so fast, and how could Finn and Solo see the beams shot from Starkiller Base?

I know that Abrams and Kasdan didn't spend two seconds thinking about those particular logistics so I won't either. :lol

The only way they could do it is if the resistance reprogrammed a Death Star and send it back through time to blow up the planet before it became a superweapon.

Sure, NECA can release Newt but continue to ignore the Death Star.

Multiple planets are destroyed yes but the Republic Fleet is orbiting the Capital and you see it completely annihilated by the blast wave after the planet is hit:

TFA > ESB

:lol i can't believe it either, i keep going back to it thinking khev shopped it. :lol

Wait a second . . .

Starkiller base is covered in ****ing snow. If it can harness the power of a sun to destroy 4 planets and a fleet, how does that ****ing snow not melt!? HNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG

I want my money back.

it's star wars bruh, sounds and fire in space are totally legit.

i feel like that's a shot that deserves another 3 shots so we can fully understand what was getting blown up- ala Micheal Bay style. :lol

Probably on tour in a band. There were a lotta Stormtrooper helm- er, drums.

You know it always bothered me about Star Wars? Was Obi-Wan Kenobi in desert gear on Tatt and George Lucas got lazy and made it the Jedi official outfit? If you were hiding in exile why would you be wearing the uniform of the Jedi? His outfit is perfect for a desert environment and even the Lars wear similar clothing. It just has always bugged me and why when Luke Skywalker became a Jedi he wore all black and not the robes?

I never thought about that. Maybe he has other outfits like t shirts and bellbottom pants...it was the 70's.

That's a good point. Why would you keep your name or Luke's last name too?

Besides looking cool, I'm sure the dark color was symbolic of a dark side because of who Luke's father is in the story.

Or maybe Luke didn't want to dress like a creepy virgin lying monk. :monkey3

Originally Luke's black attire was the look of the Jedi Knight according to books and concept art in the early 80s. Obi-Wan and Yoda were just hermits. Obi-Wan was wearing the same clothes a moisture farmer living in a desert like Uncle Owen would wear.

Return of the Jedi contradicts that in the end however the minute Anakin pops up in the exact same clothes as Yoda and Obi-Wan.

In the 90s concept art for Episode I: The Phantom Menace, the Jedi were dressed in black. In all the art produced for the film, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon had black samurai looking outfits like Luke, some even with armor.

Somewhere down the line things changed and the Jedi ended up looking like a bunch of weirdo losers.
