Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I never bought the Blurays. I only sorta know what you guys are referring to. I have the 2007 DVDs. No surround sound and no anamorphic wide screen? So what. The VHS tapes I grew up watching and loving didn't have those bells and whistles either. They get the job done for me :)

I really hope Vader is not in this. That would just be stupid. So stupid.... I want new heroes, new villains, returning characters in supporting roles, a mix of new and old ships, and a mix of new and old planets. No PT stuff please!

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

It's already ruined with the new scene of having Vader yell, "Noo, NOOOOOO" in the suit before he picks up the Emperors *** and throws him down the chasm. :lol

I don't own the blu-rays so that doesn't exist in my world.

Winner = Me. :banana

Well I very happily have the original "untouched" trilogy on Blu-ray. They are pretty easy to get hold of now.
Don't hate on the surround sound and great picture quality, hate on the special editions...
Why would you want it to look like it did on VHS, when you can have it looking like it did in the theatre?
:dunno

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Well.. a " VADER CULT" might be interesting.

a group of sith accolites who worship the fallen jedi as their lost lamented champion....

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

That was great. As long as we can keep the proper perspective, this is going to at least be a couple of very fun years during the ramp up to new Star Wars films.

I really enjoyed that. What a coup. :D

I don't hate on surround sound or great picture quality. If I did, I wouldn't own an HDTV with a Bluray player hooked up to a surround sound system. If it's so easy to get them, why aren't they in stores? where do I easily obtain them? Is it easily obtained legally?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

that was great, couldnt believe it when Lando stood up lol.

he looks great for 75, good indication he will be in too.

:exactly:

And I also liked seeing Bill Shatner have a say, though I'm sure he was primarily there for the Star Trek promoting part of the show. Probably asking when the hell JJ is going to write old Kirk into the new Trek verse.

Never heard this story before!
Wow, it's good to be the Spiegelmeister.

How Spielberg Made Millions Off of Star Wars
A tale of two directors -- and two and a half points.

by Max Nicholson
It's a pretty well-known bit of Star Wars trivia that George Lucas had serious problems with assembling the first cut of A New Hope. Throughout production and post-production the filmmaker was faced with an onslaught of obstacles, both in-house and with the studio. Apparently, Lucas was so depressed at one point that he took a vacation to visit his friend Steven Spielberg, who was working on Close Encounters of the Third Kind at the time.
According to Celebrity Networth, Spielberg revealed that, while on set, Lucas made a bet with him regarding Star Wars -- a bet that has continued to pay off handsomely for Spielberg ever since.

"George came back from Star Wars a nervous wreck," Spielberg said. "He didn't feel Star Wars came up to the vision he initially had. He felt he had just made this little kids' movie. He came to Mobile, Alabama where I was shooting Close Encounters on this humongous set, and hung out with me for a couple of days.
"He said, 'Oh my God, your movie is going to be so much more successful than Star Wars. This is gonna be the biggest hit of all time.' He said, 'You want to trade some points? I'll give you two and a half percent of Star Wars if you give me two and a half per cent of Close Encounters.' I said, 'Sure, I'll gamble with that, great.' Close Encounters made so much money and rescued Columbia from bankruptcy. It was the most money I ever made, but it was a meager success story. Star Wars was a phenomenon and I was the happy beneficiary of a couple of points from that movie which I am still seeing money on today."
How much money, you ask? Celebrity Networth estimates that Spielberg has made about $46.675 million from his deal with Lucas... and that number keeps growing every day.
