Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Yeah that is in line with what I think too. Maybe it's a rumor they use to flush out information leaks?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

He wouldn't, why would he? The OT seemed to give the impression that Vader had it all locked up with Luke and that they'd kill him and continue the Sith rule.

He screwed over Dooku with Anakin, in ROTS. It's not unfeasible he was planning to do the same to Vader with Luke, but had a back-up plan just in case.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

It's a shame they want to go down this road.
The Star Wars franchise has got to be the richest fictional potential as the expanded universe and Clone Wars cartoon have shown. But they're playing it safe with Palpatine.
Let him be and leave the Force ghosts canon alone.
Sith force ghosts are absurd given Jedi and Sith philosophies.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

That's definitely true but I'm more worried that it'll be something like Palpatine was trying to create another Anakin, a child born of the Force and that we'll find out that the child was born and hidden away and now in adulthood wants to avenge his "father's" death or something along those lines.

I keep telling you guys it'll be Vader returns to crush the Jedi and heroes of the rebellion....

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Ben and Yoda had very little time to train Luke. Perhaps what he's done in the years since ROTJ would be searching for old Jedi temples and trying to reclaim "lost" Jedi records, holocrons, and books to leave a legacy to his student*. (* I hate the title Padwan. Let it stay in the PT.)

Perhaps Luke feels the need to visit a Sith temple. It would be easy to justify an appearance by Sideous in that context.

I must admit, I'm thrilled at the prospect of Ian McDiarmid returning as Emperor Palpatine. I have my fingers crossed that it's true, particularly if he's a ghost. I think that could really work!

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

i think it is very simple... Palpatine's force ghost is there to influence one of the Solo children. i think this would work if the script allows one to validate the decent into darkness... it didn't in the PT. his role would have to be contained... powerless other than knowledge and persuasion. the sequel trilogy, in my eyes, should allow the Sith to slowly simmer...

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The rebellion becomes the Empire, the Empire the rebellion.

Episode VII opens with a Star Destroyer flying overhead....being pursued by an even biggerererer ship called a Star Destroyer Destroyer which captures it in its vast docking bay.

..& then a CG Mel Brooks comes galloping past on a jet powered donkey.
