Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

So what is this Emperor force ghost's motivation? Is he trying to get into a physical body? Is he lonely in the Sith ghost world? If they did this ridiculous ghost thing they'll have to explain it in more detail and that would be awful.

Personally I wanted them to leave this SW storyline...mention the "heroes of the rebellion 50 or 100 years ago" somewhere in the movie but start fresh. Oh well. I'm still excited new ones are coming out though.

inevitably, with such familiarity, the sequel trilogy already has a sliver in its side. the OT gave us heroes and villains that we continue to love today… if they choose to make these films about their children, it has already succumbed to a painfully obvious pedestrian path. didn't work for the kids of the Beatles… hell, even the british royal family's most popular member (Lady Di) was married into it…

i think of Palpatine as the "devil on one's shoulder"… feeding on potential… the embodiment of the dark side in ghostly human form. he is not "the seed", but the result of one's own darkness germinating… as with Obi Wan from the OT, he is limited… which makes his inclusion all the more interesting, intimate, and insightful. what can he teach us from beyond?

Palpatine doing triple somersault olympic flips in PT sucked.

I hope he's in a wheelchair for this one.

No no no.. :lol

What REALLY sucked, was that office scene in ROTS where he says "I AM the Senate!" & creeps over to Mace & co PAINFULLY SLOWLY, & does the whole 1930s swashbuckling swordsman lunge at them - & they all just fall down without reacting.

THAT'S the kind of **** that should be rubbed in uncle George's face every time he wants to defend the PT. :lecture

Everything about Palpatine after he was scarred was unbearable. Before that he went from bearable to actually pretty decent.

Yeah, this whole thing is atrocious. I love the little 'Come at me bro." gesture Windu does after does some little twirly bit.

Anyone got a link to the original scene between the Emperor and the 4 Jedi's with Anakin in the office. Anakin is supposed to take an active role before handing Palpatine his lightsaber, wonder if Windu's back up lasts longer?
