Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

If they announce there will be no "Mara Jade" or "Ben Skywalker" or "Anakin Solo" or whatever other lame character names could be found in the EU I will be happy with anything they do. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

We'll agree to STRONGLY disagree on this one. :lol

That's fine. I've always felt ANH was slow, and there's no denying ROTJ had several, what we would come to call "TPM moments" (even though that's bass akwards). Nothing will knock ESB from being the best in the franchise (and probably in the top 10 greatest films I've seen), but ROTS hit all the nostalgic heartstrings for this kid who remembers reading decades ago (in a Hyperspace?), about Obi Wan and Vader fighting on a lava planet.

I hear you there. Although I do like a lot of EU I don't want any of it in the movies really. I know the 501st stemmed from EU or whatever and a few other things but nothing big please.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Based off the age of the original actors, Episode VII should be taking place around the Legacy of the Jedi series.

I think it's likely they will have Jaina and Jacen as main characters, and maybe Ben Skywalker. At that time with those characters they could do almost anything without messing with the EU, or at least the stories before that time. The one thing though is that for the general audience they need to know what happened since the last movies and that's where I think they will start overriding the EU.

I don't think it's necessary for the audience to have a detailed history of the events between Episode VI and this one. They can give a brief overview in the opening crawl, and vaguely fill in some of the gaps through dialogue. It's also nice to leave a bit to the imagination, like ANH originally did. They just plopped us in the middle of the action and gradually answered questions. It was also nice to leave things open, throwing in things like "clone wars" and Vader's origin according to Ben, but not spelling things out just yet.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

With the time they're giving the film, which no film gets now a days, for pre-production and post production thers absolutely no reason why this film shouldn't be better than average at the very least!!!

Lucas worked on TPM for years and look what we got......time doesn't mean anything for production unless it has a script worth a darn!:lecture

Agreed for the most part.

BTW, I think ROTS' opening sequence is second only to ANH's.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

After putting ROTS over ANH and ROTJ, to me, it just has to be on par with ROTJ to work. :lol

wait, what.

:horror

I got my *** up off the chair to direct dammit, take that Lucas.

:rotfl

How many scenes did you film on a couch Jye?

The couch to scene ratio is a huge factor in the quality difference between both films.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

But you didn't get 2 billion for it. :moon

:rotfl:rotfl

Minor difference between the 2. :rotfl

If i'd had a pound for every decent script i'd read that has been ruined in preproduction or post production i'd be well on the way to be a millionaire. The Thing prequel for a start.
