Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Just out of curiosity what are you guys hoping to see in the new trilogy that wasn't provided in the previous six films? I get the "continuation of the story" aspect but are you guys hoping to see anything new?

The one thing we didn't get to see in either trilogy were epic battles of dozens of Jedi vs. dozens of Sith/evil Jedi like we saw in the Old Republic trailers. That'd be really cool to see in live-action if they could come up with a good reason for it to happen post-ROTJ.

The final chapter of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia's story, how they've evolved into the people they now are and how they've shaped their universe using their inherited special gifts. The story should be both an echo of the OT but also be fresh and not swallowed up by some of Lucas' silly PT ideas. And a conclusion that doesn't have to be happy but is satisfying and leaves the Skywalker's story with an ending to match its beginning.

An original threat, new villain, no new death star.

Considering Disney just paid $4.25B they are not going to leave the Empire out of things. Star Destroyers, TIE Fighters, Stormtroopers.... all are iconic and marketable. We will see them again, perhaps slightly updated.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Something new.

I don't find any movies about a old Luke, Han and Leia very interesting.

I don't think they're going to carry the films by themselves. There will be a passing of the torch.

OT were made for everyone hence why they still play well with adults.

PT were made for kids only, hence why adults hated them day one.

I think I just figured out how I'm starting to feel about the Star Trek reboot.

:exactly:
Sith, too. You will see black robes and red lightsabers, I guarantee it.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Based on the leaked script.

Leia will leave Han after he comes out of the closet and proclaims his true love for Lando.

Leia will rebound by dating an Ewok.

Luke, not being able to date humans will make C3PO his *****.

So far so good.

I bet GL told Disney they could have everything for a penny, but they would first need to pay him 4.5 Billion for it. :rotfl

I just want to see what has happened since ROTJ and how the galaxy has or hasn't changed. I'd also like to see how the sith have sat in wait and are ready to come back with a vengance.

The Empire is cool.

Watching the Chewie planet battle in ROTS right now with the Wookies swinging.

Sigh, looks like a videogame cut scene. :(

I thought that scene wasn't all that bad until the Tarzan howl. Thought it was cheesy in ROTJ and doubly so in ROTS.

Yeah, it's funny.

At the time - uncle George was showing off his tech in the behind the scenes stuff & saying, "heh - now that we've got the digital thing down, I can green screen everything. See those Wookie warriors in the foreground? They're the template - a few guys in suits. We then hit the copy button, & digitally reproduced them in different outfits till we were satisfied with the amount of Wookies on screen."

The scene with Yoda talking to Gree on that raised tree platform thing was another example of the viewer just getting taken out of the scene because it looked so fake. The list goes on.. & people say ROTS is the best of the PT films?

I just feel sorry for the cast having to play an 18 month game of charades in green coloured rooms all for the amusement of the bearded one. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Nah, I agree on the Greenscreen stuff. I'm a firm believer that actors need at least some semblance of sets and props to do their craft well.

And no Pix, that doesn't excuse his acting...Hayden is just a horrible actor.

So those Ewok Jedi... they somethin huh? :lol

GO read the Legacy of the force, and fate of the jedi novels, and you'll both get exactly that.

and GOOD NEWS!
It's some of the BEST EU material out there.

Much like Jack nicholson, no REAL range at all. He's just got "ONE LOOK".
Jack Nicholson has Crazy/eccentric weirdo, Hayden has whiney *****.

I actually think Hayden has his moments... but yes, he's not at the top of my list of good actors.

That's one of the most frustrating things about ROTS. It really is a decent movie! But there's just so much distracting crap like the fully CG wookiee battle (not counting the five guys in suits that were multiplied with computers.)

Anakin's awkward "no its because I'm so in love with you" speech and Vader's "nooooo" just give so much for critics to latch on to. Without those moments and more practical sets people would see it as at least as big of a gem as ROTJ.

Anakin and Obi-Wan's duel with Dooku in front of Sidious is one of my favorite of the saga. Decent lines, great delivery by Lee, good choreography, a giant set, awesome background visuals with the space battle outside, and so on.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

speaking of Hayden, This will forever be the only PT era version of anakin i care about.
