Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I don't tend to make it past the opening space battle and crash landing anymore. Awful film.

Not as bad as AOTC, does that really mean anything though. :lol

The space battles in the OT made sense, had a purpose, here it's just self awareness crap, look lets make the Jedi starfighters spin together because they're Jedis. :monkey4

:rotfl :lol

:yess:

I basically watched ROTS so many times back in the day, that it literally pains me to sit through all of it again. Honestly (might cop some flack for this but that's fine :lol) - I think Grievous is almost as stupid & annoying as Jar Jar.

Ahhhh.. there.

I said it.

He really was with that coughing crap. :rotfl

Stop watching it then... :dunno

I'm shouldn't eat bacon but I can't stop ordering a bacon egg and cheese. :(

But Boba Fett isn't a vigilante like Batman. He's a bounty hunter, or maybe to some extent a mercenary/soldier of fortune, and there's a pretty big difference there (I'm not referencing EU stuff I have no knowledge of, only films). Sure, children were traumatized in both instances, but Batman used that as a means of defining his entire purpose in life. I've seen nothing in the original Star Wars films that suggests Boba Fett was driven in a similar way. Maybe it f'd him up so much that he has no problem being an amoral killer himself, but I wouldn't say that has a parallel in Batman.

Films alone, I'll agree.

Add in the CLone wars series, and the novels, you get a much clearer picture.

Jar Jar, Dexter Jetstter, General Grievous...

NEW RULE for Episode 7. NO CG characters. CG characters are a bad idea. For every one character CG character that works there's dozens that fail hard. Do a few monsters if you must, but stop trying to make them act.

It depends, they can definitely do CG characters that are believable--Davy Jones, Gollum, Avatar, Rise of the Planet of the Apes,

Yoda is arguably the only Star Wars character that has worked as a CG performance.* It's a bad hit/miss ratio. I'd rather see a puppet or makeup effect with some CG finishing touches. Honestly they could scale back the number of alien characters and it would help the new films.

* I'm only talking films here. I haven't watched Clone Wars.

Don't knock on sock puppets by comparing them to Hayden. Kermit will kick your @ss.

Man, the swinging fight over the lava with the matrix jumping from lava droid to lava mini boats is just horrible.

Should've just kept it on land.

Music is great though. :lol

Yeah I was very underwhelmed by all that vine swinging. Sadly 3 years too early for Shia and a band of monkeys.
