Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The 'some things are better left alone' mantra - has merit.

A LOT of merit. :lol

On one hand, you get the sense that Disney is trying to do the right thing, yet with all these filler movies - & questionable subject matter for some, it leaves you wondering.

SW will always be a beautiful mess - that is it's destiny. :huh :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I thought we had more than enough origin story with the prequels. But if they must, I would like to see an obscure character from the original films get some attention. Like, Jabba's adviser guy, or the Squid captain, or toilet paper head bounty hunter guy.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I need a healthy dose of NEW Star Wars before I'll be interested in any more "this story happens between .... and ....".

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

E7 trailer is going to affect us all in one way or another.

This thread is going to go nuclear either way it goes.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

90% of this thread will hate it, becuase it;s not OT.

that opinion might change once the film is released.

I reckon we're also going to have enough time pass that those who were young and impressionable during the release of the prequels will hate it because it isn't the prequels!

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I don't think the PT is as important to younger kids. They've had Harry Potter and all sorts of stuff to choose from. For us old farts there was nothing else like Star Wars when we were kids.

As far as Ep.7 trailers, I doubt we'll see one before next year's Comic Con.

It really was tops, even amongst the other greats of its era.

I used to lay awake thinking about the clone wars.

Matrix wiped TPM clean. :rotfl

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

There's a part of me that wants to put a blow torch to the prequels.. but another part that embraces them. :lol

I think regardless of where one falls in the demographic scale though, good work / art is immediately recognizable - even the Gen-Y bothers acknowledge that. The OT will always be the benchmark.

That said - we did get talking teddy bears. What will we get in the new series - a nod to Willow? One of the main heroes being a little person? That'd be cool actually.. :lol

Kill the part of you that embraces them.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

So we're finally going to get Han Solo as Mowgli on Kashyyk, the story that was dropped out of Revenge of the Sith. Goodie, I've always wanted a Star Wars Babies saga, especially since seeing Darth Vader's origin was such a rousing success.

What do you guys think? Is the story of how Yoda became a Jedi Knight something you've been dying to see all these years?

SOURCE: VARIETY

I'm hoping they just ignore that aspect of things -- never made it to the screen, so it actually may not have happened that way at all. But a young Lt. Solo getting booted out of the Imperial starfleet for saving a certain Wookiee, and then first getting his hands on the Millenium Falcon... yeah, I'd watch that.

As long as they don't get frickin' Zac Effron for Solo.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Why do my ****ing pics keep getting erased!!! :gah:

First that Anakin / Padme montage that Nam quoted earlier - now the above one in response to Os - it looks like I'm laughing stupidly at nothing.

Are the mods playing silly buggers with me, or am I relying on dodgy sites for pics?

:lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I think a yearly SW film is just going to get old fast and audiences will shrink...Disney getting too greedy too fast

As long as their spinoffs it'll be ok and not THE major movies.
