"C'mon - do I look like a sock puppet?"

"Uhhh.. well.."

:lol

It's almost like they went way out of their way to make Natalie look completely unattractive in that scene. :cuckoo:

Borgnine was actually the inspiration for Dexter Jettster. Saw that on one of the Making Of featurettes.

Actually - yes, that's right! :lol

There's a bit where George is checking out all the little clay models on display for him of alien types to potentially use. While the yes men were shaking, one of them plucked up enough courage to blurt out a quiet little question - as in who's the inspiration for what you're looking for? Yeah, then he says Ernest. :)

From memory, he chose two heads & they merged them into one face for Dexter.

I guess to Lucas' credit. Using a Yoda puppet in a major role in 1980 was a pretty big gamble, yet it worked. Maybe thats why he tried a CGI Jar Jar In TPM, he tried to top himself. He probably said if I can get at puppet to work, CGI should be a piece of cake! Yet in the SAME film he failed with Yoda:slap

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Such an insanely useless character. "Hey I'm a chef at a greasy spoon and somehow an expert on alien weapons!" :banghead

It's pretty heavily implied that he's an old retired Mercenary.

The trope of the Old soldier/merc retiring from combat and opening a bar is not eactly a new idea.

But I agree, he was rather goofy. His design, more than the concept.

Jex knowing things, and his past as a Merc or Bounty hunter could have een hinted at a bit better by putting some weapons on the walls, or something along those lines.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Right now Star Wars Episode VII remains a baffling black hole of official intelligence, but there's some news on the spin-off front. You'll remember that Disney's plan was to alternate sequel films - the new trilogy - with stand-alone spin-off films. We heard some neat rumors, such as one of the films would be a Jedi take on Seven Samurai, but then radio silence. Like all things Star Wars, radio silence.

Now, a small communication. Walt Disney CFO Jay Rasulo was talking to the 1%ers who own big stock in the company this week and he let slip that the Star Wars films that are not the new trilogy would be 'origin' movies. Considering we've heard rumors of Yoda, Boba Fett and Han Solo stand-alone films, this means we'll get all of their origins. Or the remainder of Fett's, which began in gloriously awful fashion in the Prequels.

So we're finally going to get Han Solo as Mowgli on Kashyyk, the story that was dropped out of Revenge of the Sith. Goodie, I've always wanted a Star Wars Babies saga, especially since seeing Darth Vader's origin was such a rousing success.

What do you guys think? Is the story of how Yoda became a Jedi Knight something you've been dying to see all these years?
