Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

They could just tape some green screen to their love handles.

Or better yet *animate* their love handles to be tag along CG characters. I think that would be an ideal way to push the envelope as they drive the story forward.

"Open your mind Quaid....start the reactor...." "Shut up I said I was going to keep in on manual control for a while!"

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Either that or just embrace the chub and make them both relatives of Yarna d'al' Gargan. Ties in to the OT perfectly, so the elitists should embrace it easily. :huh

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Luke could hide his lightsaber under one of her chins.

Now I see why Han keeps her around. Hidden compartments.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

One only has to watch ROTJ to see that Han left his edge in the carbonite with his testies. :lecture:lecture:lecture

I was thinking you could cast them both as Hutts.

You guys are making jokes but I really don't want to see a heavy Luke or Leia. Just because the actors have become sedentary doesn't mean their characters have. Get to it people, especially since you're being paid for it!

This is a multi-billion dollar movie, destined to relaunch a multi-billion dollar franchise. If they can't get a couple of fat people into shape with the lavish budget and top-notch trainers that they undoubtedly have, then my faith in Hollywood is entirely misplaced.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I personally don't give a **** about their weight, Hamill is *******ing awesome no matter what. :) I can't wait to see him back. :D

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

My gut feeling says that old Leia will be the SW equivalent of KOTCS Marion. Best to just say she aged beautifully and died of natural causes prior to Episode VII. :lecture

Let Han keep his edge.

Marion was so wasted in KotCS, when i heard they'd cast Cate Blanchett and Karen Allen was returning i though great we're going to have this great cat fight, and what did we get :slap

With Ep7 you have to remember Lucas is going to be so far away from the creative process its so unlikely that'll happen again.

Back to Hamill and Fisher, in the words of Master Yoda "a wealth of sins Jedi robes do conceal" :lecture

Is Ford a drinker? I was under the impression he was just smoking kush...

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The Falcon with all of it's bootleg navigation software and illegal hardware modifications would be a hard ship to make mainstream, even in the New Republic. I think Han would either 1) stow it away in case of an emergency 2) make his fortunes in the Outer Rim where there's not as much scrutiny. Two makes more sense.

Han and Leia aren't built to last. He would get sick of Leia's world of politics, treaties, diplomacy, state dinners, blah blah blah... Han's too headstrong to be subjugated to such a life. In spite of what was written in the EU books I think he bailed.

Eh, more like Leia embraced his lifestyle and left her old world behind bit by bit untill she's JUST like him.

Dude, quit talking like you know how these movies are going to be approached. I understand you have a phd in Expanded Universe Fiction, but you have no idea how any of this stuff, post RotJ, is going to play out. I also understand you like to talk about this stuff - A LOT - so why don't you start a thread about it?

*goes to happy place... breathes deep.... OMMMMMMMMMM*

:peace

Firstly,
I'm not, that's all you projecting. Hate on The EU all you like, it will not change the fact that it exists.
I Have NO idea at all how the new films will approach what has come to pass. I know what is currently "in-continuity" from the Novels, and that's it. The new films may contradict, copy, Rewrite, ignore, or completely embrace what's in there.

I don't know, and I've never claimed to. NOBODY knows.

BUT UNTILL a New film ( which trumps all other stores, even Bad Films Like ATOC Trump good Books.) completely contradicts the Novels, it's what has officaly happend.

I will say that for the most part, the general outline of the novels follows a fairly logical progression of what their lives would be like post ROTJ, given what we already know about them.

I won't take it elsewhere, becuase referncing it is completely logical when speculating what MIGHT happen in the new movie. It's a frame of reference on what direction the new writing MIGHT take, and a possible window into the creative writing process.

And if you think that Michael Arndt isn't at the VERY LEAST taking a cursory glance at the existing EU to see IF he wants to use any of it, you're a damn fool. You don't win oscars by not being familiar with your material and doing research first, and simply blazing away with a complete disregaurd for everything that came before. That's how you become Michael Bay, or Uwe Bole.

Serious question:
If it were COMPLETELY up to you, what would you have had happen to them in the past 35ish years of time?

Is Ford a drinker? I was under the impression he was just smoking kush...
Donno. I know he's got severe Agoraphobia, which leads many people to think he's on drugs or drunk when he makes a public appearence 90% of the time.

I agree. It doesn't really matter. Most people gain weight when they age. It's not like these characters are going to look like their old selves anyway. Or in Leia's case, sound like her old self.

Gee wiz.

:)monkey2)

Oh sure, take the one line out of context and make me look like the badguy :lol

Serious though, no answer to my question?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The EU should stay shoved under Lucas' carpet where it belongs.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Same question then CP, what would YOU have filled the 35 year interim of Events with, were it up to you?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Maybe a couple of cash grab video games, and cash grab TV shows for kids to buy toys with. But that's it really.
