Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Well then you skipped DS9's best years. The rest, you probably didn't miss much.

:exactly: DS9 from season three on was great. The last few seasons the **** really hit the fan.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

there will be casting news… latest rumor is that Daniel Day Lewis is a possible for Star Wars…

I can't see DDL ever wanting to be in a SW movie. Or a Disney movie for that matter. Seems "below" him.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Jedi or Sith... without Lucas to "Terrance Stamp" him... imagine the possibilities...

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

:exactly: Because there've never been renowned actors in Star Wars.

Sarcasm? I think there are a lot of great actors in SW. I just don't think DDL thinks it's worth his time. I could be wrong and wouldn't mind him being in it. I've only read one interview with him and it was about the passing of Heath Ledger and he seemed to talk down about "comic book films" in the interview whilst praising Heath's performance as the Joker and what a bright future of acting he had. If he talks down comic book movies, I'm sure he doesn't think too highly of an overexposed, overly geeky franchise like SW. Again, I could be wrong and wouldn't mind being wrong.

Where is this rumor from anyways? Link?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I would agree. Rrrreally doesn't seem like his kind of thing. He doesn't do many films and I doubt he'd bother himself with Star Wars.

I'm certain people felt the same about Sir Alec Guinness, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Sebastian Shaw, Ian McDiarmid, Liam Neeson, the aforementioned Terence Stamp, etc...

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I'd be surprised if Day-Lewis were to appear in a SW movie, the man seems more intent on "serious" movies, as well as working with "serious" directors.
It would be an interesting change of pace, no doubt.

Those guys all appeared in such films as Gremlins 2, Darkman, Superman II, Dragonslayer, various Dracula movies, etc. DDL not so much.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The only way I could see that happening is if he (DDL) has kids and they begged him to do it. Even though Star Wars has a strong history of highly regarded actors, just doesnt seem like his thing. Though Danial Plainview might make a good imperial.

And Guinness had cinematic classics like Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, The Bridge on the River Kwai , Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago under his belt before Star Wars. Your point?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

DDL wants to do something else that doesn't have him researching a character for 2 years and acting like him for months. Something fun, and easy.

My point is that none of the actors you mention with the possible exception of Guinness are remotely comparable to Lewis as far as career choices.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread
