Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Unlikely.

The Hobbit II opens in December. Most news sources are saying SW7 begins filming in Jan '14. IF there's a teaser this early it's not going to be anything substantial, probably nothing more than a voiceover and an fx shot created for a teaser.

Also it doesn't make sense for a teaser with a WB film in December when there's Thor:TDW (Disney/Marvel) in November.

Look for something around Comic Con next year.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Sounds about right.
I'm not expecting anything from them this year.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Yes comic con 2014 they will have some good star wars 7 teasers i think.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I am dying for one piece, one piece of info that has any substance at all.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

They've got to announce casting at some point soon, I don't think they can keep casting info secret once they start filming in January.

Knowing who is in the movie isn't really going to make the movie come faster or be a TRUE indication of if it's worth getting excited over. Look at the amazing cast assembled for the PT. Ewan, Liam, Natalie, Samuel L., Christopher Lee, and McDiarmid :monkey5

I think the most exciting news has already been officially announced: JJ Abrams as director (I have faith in him to do it right based on his passion for SW and his work on Super 8), Michael Arndt as screenwriter (Toy Story 3 in my opinion is one of the best "many years later" sequels made and it was the third in a series at that!), and John Williams as composer (the score is as much a character as Luke Skywalker is or as the Millenium Falcon is).

I'm more interested in knowing if they plan on retconning the EU or if they'll just set it 30 years later without any real references to that lost chunk of time. Unless it REALLY affects the story George's outline included, I think we'd all be happy if they ignored that lost time. Of course that means no Chewbacca.... And it forces any future generation of Skywalkers to already have an established history/upbringing.... We will see.

Depending on how they announce casting could indicate things about the story and if they use anything from the EU

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

soon as they start it in jan, pretty sure we will get some leaked pics.:monkey4

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I meant ignore the time gap by not telling the viewers what everyone was up to during that time. Don't spend screentime dwelling on the past. Show the story at hand. I was thinking aloud as I typed and realized Chewie being dead would be a huge issue with ignoring the EU or not. But you know what? Marcus Brody and Henry Sr. were both dead in KotCS. People die. I think it'd be a great plot device to explain why Han is a colder/harder man than we last saw him in RotJ if his best friend had been killed.

Gotchya. I'm thinking it'll be as cryptic as casting was for TPM. I remember Liam Neeson being cast as "Jedi Master" and Natalie Portman being cast as "Young Queen." And I wouldn't be in the least bit upset if that's the way they do it! I like the mystery :)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Well, if we get some stuff like "brother and sister" or a red-haired woman that's a jedi, or saying that someone will play a villain we can run it by the EU stuff to see if it matches to something that exists. Difference between now and when Episode I was being done is that there wasn't any story material about the Episode I time period so you wouldn't have anything to start from with assumptions.
