Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

My point is that none of the actors you mention with the possible exception of Guinness are remotely comparable to Lewis as far as career choices.

Right. And I'm not sure Guiness is even comparable to Lewis as far as casting goes. Guiness agreed to be in a movie that was expected to be financial disaster because he either liked the simplicity of the story it told or the great ambition Lucas had with the making of the movie. It wasn't him signing up for a pop culture phenomenon with rabid fanboys and grown me spending thousands on toys. That came later and surprised nearly everyone involved on the project.

It's common knowledge Guiness grew to resent SW and was upset he was always recognized as Obi-Wan Kenobi rather than any of the other iconic roles from his critically acclaimed films. If SW had already been huge and successful and he was offered a role later in the series, I don't think he would have agreed to take part in it. Those other actors who did, as Khev mentioned, were already in less serious movies. To my knowledge, DDL hasn't been in a nondramatic film yet.

I don't want to argue. I have said it twice and I'll say it a final time. I could be wrong. DDL might choose to star in a SW movie. I personally don't see it happening especially since the rumor is some forum member just casually saying it. Where did this rumor start?

:lecture I want that ship. Not excuses.

I hope Han and Chewie didn't feel the need to install plastic bulkheads and excessive lighting everywhere over those 30 years.... I wouldn't mind seeing new portions of the ship.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

If vader appears in 2015. Thoughts?

Depends ENTIRELY how they do it.

"Vader Cults" worshiping a statue of him, and nearly treating him like their god? I'm cool with it.

An impostor using the memory of Vader as some sort of freakish symbol to inspire fear?
I'm cool with that too.

"clone vader" or robot Vader, or just about anything esle I'm NOT ok with.

The only 'Star' franchise I discriminate against is Stargate. I liked the first film, nothing else that followed.

Funny. I kinda felt the opposite.
Kinda.
I liked the movie.
The TV series was rough teh first couple of seasons.. then it became a sci-fi original, and really found its stride.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I'm with a-dev.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Saoirse Ronan lives on a street. And word on that street is that she auditioned for the new Star Wars film. Many actors have had this honor, so that in and of itself is not newsworthy.

But while discussing this with the Empire Podcast, she let slip the fact that her auditioning process involved holding a lightsaber. It stands to reason that if she held a lightsaber during her audition, there might be one in the finished film as well. Maybe.

That's not all! Dedicated scoop machine @mntndewfan666 was actually hiding under a Bantha rig and saw the whole audition. According to her, Saoirse was forced to say "May the Force be with you," "I have a bad feeling about this," and "Beam me up, Scotty" for her line readings. She also had to say "I am Han Solo's kid and I will team up with Boba Fett's kid to betray Luke Skywalker by the end of the film, but then Luke Skywalker's kid will kill me," whatever that means.

These are very exciting times, not just for us, but also for Saoirse Ronan, whose entire life, from her naming onward, has revolved around possibly being in a Star Wars film. Now maybe that dream can come true.

Saoirse is one of my absolute favorite young actresses. She would be a grand slam casting choice and would renew my expectations quite significantly if true.
