Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Hope they get the han solo look right, fords 72 next, the short back and sides he as now doesnt look great, they should keep his hair long like he had in the films, i just hope the big three are good in it, and not a let down.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

i don't want to see a new star wars movie that doesn't have chewbacca in it.....:monkey2

that's a ****ed up world i want no part of...........:lecture

Meh. I don't care. I'm expecting an all-new cast to be the focal point of this trilogy. Luke will likely have the largest part out of the entire returning cast. Chewie and the droids do have the advantage of being ageless and being able to be those OT characters that continue having adventures with the new heroes. This is a strong possibility.

Even though my preference is to not retcon the EU, I don't think they'd not have Chewie in it. Peter Mayhew with his health issues might not return, but they could get anyone in that suit really. The same goes for the droids. I would just hope Anthony Daniels agrees to do the voicework.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

They are looking for another actor that can play Chewy, he as to be there Han Solo just wont be the same without his best mate.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I meant ignore the time gap by not telling the viewers what everyone was up to during that time. Don't spend screentime dwelling on the past. Show the story at hand. I was thinking aloud as I typed and realized Chewie being dead would be a huge issue with ignoring the EU or not. But you know what? Marcus Brody and Henry Sr. were both dead in KotCS. People die. I think it'd be a great plot device to explain why Han is a colder/harder man than we last saw him in RotJ if his best friend had been killed.

I know he died in the EU books, but your post read that having him already dead in the films would negate that. Did you mean the opposite?

Honestly, something to consider for the Chewie fans. Even if he is in this next trilogy, it won't be Mayhew. That guy can barely get around. I'd almost rather see no Chewbacca than a white-haired Wookie hobbling around on a cane. And I'm not sure we'd buy a non-Mayhew Chewie since so many of the mannerisms we've dome to identify with Chewie were Mayhew's. :(

:exactly: :goodpost:

Couldn't agree more. As fans, we sometimes tend to cling to things, even if those things make no sense anymore - logically, or practically speaking.

I'm more than happy for a new cast to steer the new trilogy in a positive & credible direction. Having no details yet, really gets the neurons firing as to whether JJ has the bus on course or not. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

i have no problems with a new guy playing chewy............but how cool would it be to have mayhew for close ups or shots of him sitting, like in the cockpit...........if he would be up for it healthwise.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

They put Hadden Christensen in a Vader suit. They'll do it to Chewie without hesitation.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Just put Doug Jones in Chewie's costume... *shrugs*

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Wasn't someone else Vader between Prowse and Christensen?
I remember chatting about this with a guy on another forum a while back.

He seemed to suggest that there was indeed an additional person in the costume during filming the PT Vader scenes. Apparently the guy was a boxer or something like that - not sure of the details off hand.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The stuntman who did all the sword fighting in ESB and ROTJ?

Yeah, but no. :lol

I thought it was for something altered in the Special Editions. I don't really remember the whole story, but I remember seeing the guy at SuperCon signing next to Mayhew.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Ok right - the SEs? Yeah I'm not sure man..

What scenes are we talking about? The conversation with Palpatine in ESB for example?

Wait, you go to cons? I seem to remember you being a bit agoraphobic. Is that incorrect, or was someone pulling my leg. I really thought you mentioned it during Spook last year while discussing SDCC...

:lol I think you misunderstood my zero tolerance for rude bastards as agoraphobia. Used to go to WonderCon all the time until it moved. Still go to SuperCon (now Big Wow Comic Con) and on occasion Fanime. I won't go to SDCC because I know I'll probably spend the weekend in jail for pummeling a line cutter. Almost did at the WonderCon Mark Hamill was at when an ******* cut in front of my daughter to get Carrie Fisher's autograph. I grabbed him by the shoulder and was about to start yelling at him but security was on it. They cut in-between us and escorted him out. :yess:
