Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Ejiofor was actually offered the role on Doctor Who and wanted to take it but they couldn't agree on a contract.

If you've seen ANH, you can watch ESB and be satisfied.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I'm in the camp ESB would not be as good without seeing ANH. And although ESB is my favorite and has been for over half of my time as a SW fan, I've probably seen ANH by itself the most amount of times. And I've probably seen RotJ just a dozen or so times less than ESB. I usually try to follow up ESB with RotJ within a week or so. I've marathoned them back to back once or twice. I've even done the whole trilogy once at a sleepover. That was before the dark times. Before the Prequel Trilogy....

Return of the Jedi works without Star Wars and Empire. Those two didn't even need to exist because Jedi has it all. It's the perfect, seminal film.

Ewoks . . .

ROTJ... A fearsome crime lord who looks like a cowplop maintains his grip on power by surrounding himself with pigs, muppets and bellydancers.

To rockin' 80s alien music in a dirty, gritty film hazed dungeon.

Oh, speaking of which. While I love Han Solo in Star Wars and Empire, doesn't anyone else hate him in Jedi? There's just something annoying about him. I don't know if it's just Ford not wanting to be there and phoning it in, or if that was the intent for the character.

Ford sleepwalks through the whole movie. He could've been wearing a t-shirt that says "I hate being here".

He acts like a buffoon most of the time.

Probably just Carbonite poisoning...

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I think most people dislike Han/Ford in ROTJ, especially once they reach Endor (I thought he was fine for the most part prior to that). But yeah, does seem like he didn't care and was just written to be super kiddy-friendly by Lucas.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Justin Biebs and Miley Cirus pls.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I love Ford, but he was terrible in Jedi, from beginning to end. Both Ford and Marquand/Lucas are to blame. Ford for choosing to go full comedy, and Marquand/Lucas for not stopping him.

Look Out, Luke: New 'Star Wars' Movie Characters Leaked!

Interesting:

The names are obvious pseudoyms for the actual characters but interesting in that they don't appear to be related to Skywalkers or Solos. (Unless Lando, Han and Leia enjoy teh' kinky).

Interesting stuff...
