Ya know, y'all speculating a lot on characters from books being in the film. Mara Jade, Ben Skywalker, Solo Twins... Y'all making me wonder if they'll add Boba's gay Mando friend Goran Beviin?
:lol

The production team behind the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII will be in Nashville later this month for a casting call for what it says are two "major roles" in the film.

A representative for Lucasfilm says they are looking for a young man between the ages of 19 and 23 and a young woman ages 17 and 18.

Anyone outside of the age range will not be considered, and those under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The event is set for Sunday, Nov. 24, at the downtown Sheraton, 623 Union St., from noon to 5 p.m.

The casting call includes a meet-and-greet with the film's casting director, Maryellen Aviano, whose recent credits include Man of Steel, Inception, Hangover Part III and The Avengers.

A description of the female character is as follows:

"Rachel was quite young when she lost her parents. With no other family, she was forced to make her way alone in a tough, dangerous town. Now 17, she has become street smart and strong. She is able to take care of herself using humor and guts to get by. Always a survivor, never a victim, she remains hopeful that she can move away from this harsh existence to a better life. She is always thinking of what she can do to move ahead."

The company said the actress must be beautiful, smart and athletic, and they are open to all ethnicities, including bi- and multi-racial.

And the male character is described as follows:

"Thomas has grown up without a father's influence. Without the model of being a man, he doesn't have the strongest sense of himself. Despite this, he is smart, capable and shows courage when it is needed. He can appreciate the absurdities in life and understands you can't take life too seriously."

The actor must be handsome, smart, athletic and over 18 years old, the company said.

The casting call is part of a nationwide search for the two characters that has included recent stops in cities like Chicago, St. Louis and Austin, TX.

No prior acting experience is required, and if you are unable to attend the session, you can still submit an application online: https://www.opencastingcall2013.com.

Neet. So they're casting Jar Jar Jr, and the great grandaughter of Padme's sister from ATOC. Good to know.

Maybe because they were taken out or broke between the PT and the OT?

I hope R2 is more weathered for Episode VII.

you know what else we never saw in the OT? We never saw Obi-wan do anything other than Mind tricks with the force. HOW DARE HE USE OTHER POWERS!
WE never saw anakin use the force, Only Vader. HOW DARE HE!

R2 is an Astromech droid. lets look at that word. Astro Mech. The Prefix Astro means " From, or having to do with Space. Mech COULD me mechanical, or machine, but givin that we See Aretoo REpairing things all throught BOTH trilogies, I THINK It is a truncated "Mechanic"

So, by calling him an Astromech Droid, We are calling him a "Space Mechanic" Droid. But that sounds a little odd. Astro can also mean "having to do with space, and not nessacarly space itself. So what do we know about space that is pertiant?

Zero Gravity. So calling him an Astromech could also mean "Zero Gravity Mechanic Droid"

And it would make logical sense for a Droid designed to work in Zero gravity ( and Zero Atmosphere, as evidenced by him attempting repairs on luke's xwing during the battle of yavin) Him having some means of moving around outside a spaceship ( magnetic feet) and Zero gravity enviornment of space ( Rocket boosters) Makes Logical sense.

Why didn't he use them in the Ot?

Becuase filmaking Technology was limited, and he never really needed to.

In-canon, they quite possibly Broke over the years. who knows.

Depending on where he is, and what he has been doing/ who he belongs too, I might like to see more weathering on Artoo. But I would think Luke would take care of him.

They were replaced by more long, pointy tools.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Y'know, seeing Artoo, and KNOWING that he'll be in Episode VII -- I know, I know, it was a forgone conclusion and all, but it still gave me a good feeling seeing this picture!

And J. J. Abrams is the luckiest Star Wars fan in the world, getting to play in this universe -- I hate him! :)

Was it Lucas who said they were broken and/or the Rebellion didn't have the fuel for the rockets :slap

Hardly a satisfactory explanation seeing as the Rebellion can adapt vehicles for different climates and have fuel to launch an armada to attack the 2nd Death Star :rotfl

Unless his film sucks.....then he would be the most unluckiest fan in the world.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I am in agreement with you. I never had an issue with the jets myself. Most likely a technology issue.

That's why the prequels are mostly terrible. They contradict what came before it.
