Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread
Not really, there's two book series around that time, and having it later means they will have to come up with something simple to explain the time in between ROTJ and the new movie, probably not the EU stuff because there's too much that happened.
Opening scroll
With the Fall of the Empire, and Rise of the Galactic Alliance, Peace has finaly come to the Galaxy. Luke skywalker Has dedicated his life to resstoring the jedi Order. Once more The gaurdians of Peace and justice in the Galaxy has assumed their vigil. But Dark Times Lie ahead....
Or something vague like that. keep it simple, keep it vague. Creating a new mess of information to cover 30 years of content is unnessacaraly complex. Spending time trying to create that will take away from the quality of the finished product. the LOGICAL, REALISTIC expectation, is that Abrams is just gonna take what's already thre, and build off it, possibly starting before the events of Crucible, and considering that story noncanon.
OR the events of Crucible and it's related books get moved back a little in the timeline.
I'm not expecting to see any of those stories adapted to the screen, that's not going to happen.
But I anticipate the naysayers who are expecting it to all get tossed out on its ear are going to be dissapointed as well.
Best Case Scenario, is to keep it simple, and Vague. the Haters can keep on hating, and ignore the books. And those who've helped keep SW alive by reading said books don't get cast aside either.
