Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread
When its finally confirmed for definite that they're all in it we'll see that.

James Earl Jones and Carrie Fisher were on Big Bang tonight, that was pretty cool, just makes me realize how much I'm gonna geek seeing the old timers in a new Star Wars.
That was pretty good, Carrie Fisher wasn't looking to bad either.
Ha ha!I noticed that too. She's loosing weight!
Or stuffed herself into an itty bitty girdle under that robe.
What the **** this is even going to be about boggles my mind. The new jedi order facing a secret sith uprising seems so cliche. I suppose Lucas gave JJ an outline about threats main characters and such and told him to run with it. Still, very interested to see where they go with this. (I'd love to actually care about a SW character since ROTJ)
depends how they do it.
the EASY route is to just lift the idea from the Fate of the jedi books, and rewrite that story, as it ties into current media pretty well.
( current media being the Old Republic MMO game)
The basic gist of it is this. During the Last galactic war with the sith ( The time period that the old republic game is set during) A MASSIVE Sith starcruizer ( think along the lines of a star destroyer) Has a hyperdrive failure and crashes onto a world thatdosn't have space travel, but IS inhabited by humans an near-humans. the technology level of this world is not to dissimilar from the Rennassance period in earth history. While MANY of the Sith died in the Crash, Enough of the crew and support staff surrivived. They intermingled with the Native people, and just so happened that the native people had myths and legends about "being from the stars" who would come and usher in a "new age of glory" to their world. The native people embraced the sith, and their ways as their own.
HOWEVER, none of the survivors possessed the knowledge or resources nessacary to rebuild the engines and hyperdrive of the vessle. So there they remained stranded for thousands of years, creating a new, if small sith imperial colony. EVENTUALLY, a ship capable of hyperspace transport finds the little backwater world, and is taken by the sith. Using this first vesstle as a starting point, the sith take up piracy. Boarding and stealing other vessles, buiding up a fleet, and re-integrating into the galaxy in secret.
Please note that these Sith come from a culture that predates the whole "rule of two" thing that Darth Bane did.
It creates an adversary that presents good story potential. It helps create "galactic strife" and ties into existing media ( The old republic games) to generate additional revenue from an existing source.
Is this the route they will go?
Who the hell knows.
But It's what I would do.
YUP. They are the entity Known as " The Lost Tribe of the Sith" Or simply " The Lost Tribe"Sounds pretty awesome actually. There are a lot of conflicts I like in the EU but this one isn't really known to me. These are the most recent series of books published set after NJO, right?
are they still calling it the new republic at this point? or is that just supposition? knowing this helps to pinpoint what stories are getting the axe from the EUThe likelyhood of Princess Leia beeing a Jedi in EP 7 has taken a massive boost, apparently Dame Judi Dench will be playing the political leader of the new Republic.

Don't see any reason she wouldn't be. Even in ROTJ, Yoda told luke to take what he had learned and pass it on. Luke Flat tells leia she has the same powers he does, and in time she would learn to use it as he had.
Even if you ONLY use the established movies, and completely IGNORE the EU, It's already established that Leia would become a jedi eventually

Yoda even had Leia in mind as Luke's backup plan if he failed.
Luke actually says she is stronger, so could Leia be the Jedi Master instead of Luke?
Sorry, just the phrase i used that i thought best described it, the eact statement says Dame Judi Dench is 1st choice to play the political leader of the galaxy's goverment, wonder if she'll be playing Mon Mothma as the original actress died a few years ago?
Okay, correction. She is not dead...
