Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Mon Mothma actress died! I saw her at Celebration, but I guess that was CV… :(

Its in the scene where Luke tells her the truth just before he surrenders to Vader.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I think you have it reversed. She tells him he has powers she could never understand.

Nope, she tells him to run away and she wished she could too. Luke replys she wouldn't because she has always been stronger.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

In every version I've ever seen, he says thats she is strong. It was a direct response to her saying she would run. At least thats how I think it sound, I've never heard it as stronger. Aside from that, what both of you said was pretty much dead on.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Let us know, I'm about due for another OT trilogy marathon soon. :rock

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Luke actually says she is stronger, so could Leia be the Jedi Master instead of Luke?
Preeeeety sure you're wrong about that sir. I'm a big fan of Female empowerment, and strong women in general. I'd remember something like that.

Sorry, just the phrase i used that i thought best described it, the eact statement says Dame Judi Dench is 1st choice to play the political leader of the galaxy's goverment, wonder if she'll be playing Mon Mothma as the original actress died a few years ago?

The following info is derived from the comics/novels/and books and as such, is now/soon subject to change. But it's all we've got to go on ATM.

1) The actress isn't dead, but Like chewbacca, the Character is.

2) IF Leia is a jedi ( which she should be) AND it's set 20-30 years after ROTJ, then it's after Mon mothma Retired, and backed Leia as her sucessor. AS WELL AS being after Leia Retires.from politics, not to mention being after her death.

IF they take from EU sources, this would also be during/after the Truce with the imperial remnant. And it's possible the current head of state is Former imperial Admaral NatasiDaala.
OR someone else entirely. I'd love to see Wynn Dorvin. Not nessacaraly as Head of state, but In general.

Always Pictured him as being played by Alan Rickman

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Phew. I was worried Leia being stronger than Luke was some Timothy Zahn EU stuff that Lerath was going to start telling me about. :lol ;)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Ha, no. Even in the eu, Luke is portrayed as one of, if not the galaxy's biggest baddasses.

"the trail of severed limbs he's left behind him of people who have underestimated him is too long to measure."

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I remember Luke saying Leia is stronger too, but I just thought that meant in her will and determination, not in her Jedi powers. But I guess they're not all together separate qualities...

We've been told the EU isn't being used as a template for the Sequel Trilogy so may be Leia is too busy with rebuilding the Jedi order and re-populating the galaxy with powerful force sensitive beings for politics? If Luke follows Yoda's policy and the Jedi will merely be the servants of the politicians and not be the decision makers themselves.

I'd would say that the stronger willed Jedi was less likely to be tempted by the Dark Side, and as Luke and Leia's powers are said to be potentially equal wouldn't that make Leia the greater Jedi?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I would have no issue with time having passed and Leia having become a badass Jedi. I'm up for anything new that adds to the classics. Some things I'd like to see... Han getting killed in a firefight, he is not a character I want to see die in their sleep of old age, and I want to see Chewy die in this with him. Also, I know they are probably going to have appearances, but I'd like to see R2 and C3PO minimized, no flying, no super R2, just good old cool OT R2... I hope to god they aren't handed down to the next generation and end up featured again.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I want Han to be in all three like the OT, then have him go out in battle maybe.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Damn, this obsession with killing Han Solo....what did he do to you guys? Is it not bad enough he lost a year of his life frozen in carbonite?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

He was annoying in ROTJ, that's probably it.
