Oooooookay Mr. Splitting Hairs. ;)

They can "remake" the PT with Anthony Daniels and Ian McDiarmid playing their same characters but have everything else change.

Um huh? If everything else changes it's a REWRITE. Whether they use the same actors isn't actually the point. :dunno

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

but..... what if...... they were worse?

well this is in Disney's hands, So I really don't see them making worse movies, I really cant.
Even if they are not amazing or anything they couldn't make worse movies than the original 3, it is just not possible :lol

Well yeah, I thought that was implied though.

well, Remakes today are really different from the originals (Look at Red Dawn or Robocop) so yeah it was implied. I actually don't see remakes today having much to do with the original movies they are based on, Sometimes it is not even the same story being told.

And, if Disney was going to remake those 3 they would probably work with what Lucas did as far as the story goes. Probably some of the main points in the story would remain. it's like, they could rewrite the movies but they probably couldn't go too far from the original story Lucas had,

Mark's face -- what you can see of it in that picture -- does look thinner. The gut looks smaller, too. I hope he's going to pull this off!

Nope. Still a remake. In film terms "rewrite" refers to a different/updated version of a script for the same movie.

IOW Episode VII can be "rewritten" several times before it's finished but once it's done if a new "Episode VII" is ever made then it's a remake.

Yeah I've had a bad day. I think I'll just crawl back into a dark place where I can hide for awhile.

:lurking:

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

We know what Mark will roughly look like in the film and now Harrison, we just need to see Carrie for the full picture?

Carrie has become the Elizabeth Taylor (or Aunty Liz as Carrie called her) of the generation who grew up with the OT ....now she's big....nows she's slim....now she's big.... Both have been through messy divorce's, Liz Taylor's due to Richard Burton's drinking. In Carrie's case Salman Rushdie told her Ayatollah Khomeni had given him a Fatwa and she thought he mean't her!

But we'll still love her the minute she steps onto the screen as everybody's favourite princess.

Remake/rewrite, whatever, it ain't happening, so no point in arguing over it. :lol

Right. Besides, my imagination can conjure up enough content to satisfy my need for a rewrite better than anyone else I'm sure. I've already discussed it to death with friends one night and I think earlier in this topic we all said things we liked, things we'd change, etc. Maybe instead of asking hypothetical questions, Blackmask should just say what he would do differently? I'm always interested in alternate takes of the prequels.
