Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

AOTC arena Jedi battle is very embarrassing to watch if you're over 13. :lol

Yet nothing from the original OT is embarrassing to watch no matter your age.

Why is dat?

:lol :lol :lol

I can see it now:

Anakin Begins

The Dark Jedi Knight

The Galactic Empire Rises

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Yeah because having Darth Maul instead of the elegant Christopher Lee state "Twice the pride, double the fall," would have been so much better. :lol ;)

I'm glad that he got to be a mute badass who exited with his dignity intact. The Clone Wars cartoon showed us that we did not need more Darth Maul.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Darth Maul should have been in all 3 films instead a new baddie for each film.

:goodpost:
Dooku never really seemed all that well thought out, anyway, so they tossed the Vader story of the Jedi betrayer (minus the physical maiming) onto him.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

To be a contrary mary I liked Dooku. One of the few decent things to come out of the PT IMO.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I especially disliked the end of the lightsaber fight at the start of ROTS, when Anakin slices Dooku's hands off - & instead of him doing something 'Sith-y' :)lol) to try & counter his sudden predicament.. he just looks up at Palpatine then Ani - like a scolded puppy. :lol

I suppose you liked that scene a-dev? :monkey3

..& pretty much ALL the scenes with him wielding his lightsaber in mid duel, just look like the stunt guy with a cardboard Lee head. :lol

You would have liked it even more had George had his way. It was originally scripted for Dooku to beg "Help me" to Palpatine, but Lee resisted saying that was too undignified for his character to say and George relented.

I thought that he, like Ewan McGregor, did a pretty dang good job in a far less than ideal situation. When you've got horrible dialogue and have to act everything out in front of a blue screen, imagining that a giant monster is chasing you, or that you are fighting a Muppet jedi on PCP or whatever, there's only so much you can do.

Nonono. But I like Qui-Gon Jinn while thinking he is a pointless character who even harmed the overall story so ....... :dunno

Nah - he was fine. :lol

Yeah Uncle George. He started off with the best of intentions, then ended up a bull in a china store. :slap

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Dooku should have been in ALL THREE movies as well. He should have been on the Jedi council when they first bring Anakin in. It's amazing to me how poorly thought out in advance so many of these characters and plots seemed to be.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Wasn't George's reasoning to have these guys like a 'villain of the week' type deal - to harken back to his love of the old serials?

You've got a point there though, he would've been better placed as a council member to start with.
