Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Welcome to the Star Wars section mentality where hyperbole and armchair quarterbacking are taken to their most obnoxious (and utterly presumptuous) extremes. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

what Carrie does on her own time is none of our concern... why not concentrate on the larger picture? in the interest of storytelling, is Leia going to enhance or hamper? i believe Han's arc would be a lot more interesting with her gone... his relationship with Luke, his children... Chewbacca... there is a lot of potential to further develop Solo's character. it may award Han the relevance to be a larger part of the entire coming trilogy.

Harrison wants Han dead. I'll bet money that happens. "Pass on what you have learned" will be a bigger theme than anything solo fanboys want.

All depends on what JJ is going to do. So ****ing weird not nothing a damn thing about this.

And if he is handled correctly could be one of the biggest and best events throughout the Star Wars continuum. I think the character deserves an epic screen death, not just the assumption that he dies offscreen of colon cancer someday.

Nobody's denying anything - but instead of being happy that she's 'back' so to speak, there's this relentless scrutiny.

Of course - the nature of the industry sets celebs up for that almost immediately, but Carrie Fisher's proven that she's a tough little nut. She's resilient, & is still in the biz. I'm sure she'll shut a lot of mouths come crunch time.

Half the finger pointers wouldn't last five minutes in that environment. :huh :lol

I don't mind that she is in the movie, I don't care what she does. I just hope the movie and her role will be good. And I just wonder if her personal problems will affect her performance or not.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was in talks to play a beautiful Jedi princess? I hadn't heard. Well I doubt that would have worked on screen either then. Nobody is saying that Carrie should crawl off in a corner and die. I couldn't care less what she does in some parked car, if I did I'd probably have to boycott the work of 80% of Hollywood. Some of us just don't see her as being able to pull off Leia anymore. Harrison proved he could keep it respectable with old Indy so he gets a pass. Carrie and Mark? Not so much, but Mark is much more feasible.

Either way I'm assuming they'll keep her so I hope they defy the odds and she kicks *** (in whatever they have her do) and we all turn out to be pleasantly surprised.

They will just A lot of make up and some CGI on her :lol

Totally agree and hate that it's so obvious. Lol
Come on your highness get your head in the game.
I do hope she pulls through and really is in ep VII though. Looking forward to her back and forth sarcasm with Han.

That would need to be handled on the same level as Spock's "death" in Wrath. :lol

I'd like to see CF in this movie if for no other reason than it might send her down a better path in real life. I think Disney should pack her @ss up on the next plane to London and away from the parasites.

That said I don't think she's likely to have the screen presence to make Leia the same appealing or commanding character she once was. Not based on what we've seen in the last few years. I saw her HBO special and it was funny enough but she just isn't a leading lady anymore. She will more likely be a peripheral character who's simply there to be seen. The people who have been invested in the EU and Leia as a Jedi are not going to get that version of the character.

Just hoping for some real news so we don't gotta talk about Carries drug habits. :)

They can always make him in-shape Steve Rogers style, it's perfect for such an occasion :dunno
