And how is any of their ridiculous crap about love, anger, fear, hate etc not an absolute.
You must have missed the deleted scene where Yoda said, "well, usually fear and anger are bad, but, y'know, not always. Sometimes it's OK."

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

But then again it only serves to make the jedi look idiotic and for you to wonder how just about everyone doesn't go dark eventually.
There's a joke in there somewhere.. :family

I've been meaning to chime into the discussion properly, but I want to go back & read up first.

Some of Difabio's posts need responding to.. :lol

"Why did the guy do this when I woulda done that"...give me a break...The answer is" because".. or" tough", or "it is what it is" or "you make your own freakin film and show em"...is their anything in your life that doesnt need an explaination? Is this story too complicated for you to comprehend or maybe too simple?...over analysis does that to the brain man...Another answer to your stuff is "dont worry about it and just pay for your movie ticket man"

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

are that many folks here that freakin nervous or worried that their beloved SW is gonna be ruined...cmon man...just enjoy it for what it is...and be happy its coming back before you die...I am...not worried or thinking about it too much at all...Lucas bashing when he gave us SW and IJ...cmon...did his career go down afterwards sure but you know what ..so what..worry about your own career not someone elses

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I'm not really invested in SW to even care what comes about from this new trilogy. But I can't see it being amazing.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Well you can over think it. . .and perhaps Fabio is ;) , but at the very basic level, I think the general actions and motivations of characters in the original trilogy can be explained in a way that makes sense and doesn't require you to make many logical leaps. Vader's actions don't seem that odd to me.

I do have a harder time understanding some of the characters' motivations and behaviors in the prequels. And I think the biggest part of that is Lucas kind of losing it, and being motivated more by commercial interests than creative ones, but I think another part of it is due to the convoluted nature of the films. It's pretty hard to keep track of what is going on, who is where, even which characters are supposed to be important at a given time. When Lucas has to concern himself so much with trying to make a coherent narrative out of all that, I can see the actual characters themselves being a bit of an afterthought.

Some people can translate characters that onto film better than GL granted, but as for me I was just happy to have Star Wars back, were they as good as the earlier films, no...did I enjoy them...yes I did just because I got to see Star Wars again and got to see what happened to them even if flawed...lots of worse films out there than the prequels IMHO...but I think because for some fans SW is put at such a high pedestal in their minds that it drives em nuts...I was happy to see some beloved characters on screen again...and I look forward to seeing them come back in the theaters soon...we all have our own notions of what is right and what we like, but for some its taken to a crazy extreme...These films were not made for the over analytical person in mind...I knew that going in and hopefully many here too

If the films were really really sheet the box office would not be as good as it was...I think everyone under 16 loved those prequel films....they werent made for the over analytical in mind...I knew that going in...so should many here too.

I agree...LOL

Lupita N'yong'o to join Star Wars episode 7?

I like this girl but this is exactly the kind of thing I feared Disney and JJ would do -- trendy casting. STAR WARS was never about that originally.

And let's not even get into Disney's first move with their new acquisition...

This is the first thing Disney does with the license since they got it? Here we go....

It's quite possible we'll all look back one day and miss George Lucas...
