one of the biggest problems the prequels hadto face was disagreeing with most people's Headcanon.

Was it really "most people"? Most now being over 50% who saw this? Hmmm I don't know about that.

Expectations not being met surely played a huge role. Putting the thing about midichlorians in there was no doubt a mind-**** for many, for example. But I think the discrepancy in style, mood, and dramatic interplay between characters may have actually played the biggest role. The movies didn't feel like Star Wars, though the changes in the Special Editions may have closed that gap slightly.

Needless overcomplications like midichlorians, Qui-gon Jinn, Qui-gon not disappearing when he died. And the mere fact of showing us a 9 year old Darth Vader. A bunch of crap that started in TPM and ****ed up the next 2 films as a consequence. And yet I find TPM the most watchable of the 3. Its a funny situation.

The problem is today in 2014 is the term "Feel Like Star Wars?" might have changed. I agree with your comments, but I'm asking that as we move forward to EP7 and wondering myself if it will look more like 1-3 or be a mix. I'm hoping for a nice blend of model work and CGI, because I still believe great model work looks better than CGI.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I'm curious about that, too. In general, I think the OT has a specific style and mood, and the prequels has its own thing, that does connect those films and make them a kind of unified piece. Will the new films eschew all of that, and go for something completely new? Try to mix-and-match the older films? Or pick one over the other?

Don't forget "the chosen" one or prophecy BS. Something that isn't even mentioned in the original trilogy.

Why couldn't Vader be "just a guy"?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Nothing will feel like the old Star Wars... Nothing, as soon as folks get that notion out of their heads the more sanity will occur

Indeed. Starship Troopers comes to mind.

Again you think too much. Here's my answer. Why not? Why just a guy? Hey maybe Lucas just couldn't fill in all those gaps you wanted filled in those earlier films. C'mon man stop complaining or throwing out what ifs or why's . That's like Jye saying Godzilla shoulda been in it. Lol. It is what it is

Not really.

The premise of the prequels was that they were stories that took place before the original films. There's a certain perception and expectation that what you're about to see, ya know, actually predates those original stories. That's what Lucas set out to do. Yet, the "connective tissue" doesn't add up. It's like they were made by someone else. There's no real consistent continuity to the thing.

So you're basically like, "people should just shut up, pay for their toll, and sit like drones in front of the screen". Well, that ain't me. If Lucas wanted to do whatever he wanted, then sure have at it. Why try and make the claim that this stuff happened before the stories we were invested in when you're not even going to bother respecting the original story/plot. Don't make the claim that they connect if you can't actually do that. It's a contradiction.

Episode VII: Force Ghost

Then they can bring Hayden back and have him retrained by Obi-Wan all over again about how to kick cans and walk through walls. When Palpatine's ghost comes back for more vengeance Hayden can possess Whoopi Goldberg and make out with Padme's confused clone.

Deep down you hope for the best. Yes you do pay your toll like everyone else. I do not expect flawless like some. Write a book. I know you can do it. I might even buy it

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

If I can pay the toll, why can't I ***** about it if I want? :lol

Freedom of speech and all that. I'm flattered that you'd buy a book based on all my observations, I really am. But a guy could get the idea that you think it's a waste of time talking about this stuff? Well yeah, but what else should we be doing right now. I guess I could be making more documents or illustrations right now, but **** it, the deadline is a ways off and it's a Wednesday. Should we all just shut up and not even log in? I can assure you, these topics aren't eating away at my soul. I'm not getting all philosophical about this. I'm just coming in and having my say like everyone else on our own free time. It amuses me.

There comes a point(at least for me) where enough is enough, whether its a guy shooting at me, a lousy film, or a guy ranting over the reasons why the film/characters,etc. shoulda been done his way...it's all relative( although dangers and other things might not be at the same level). Hey I just cant believe you can talk so much about this sheet. LOL..other than that youre alright

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Don't you mean irrelevant?

I mean, how often am I even in this thread? This is literally the first time you've seen me talking about this topic. :lol
