Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

:lol @ everybody thinking Lucas is in denial over the prequels. The whole reason Disney owns LFL now is because of it. The measly $2bil pricetag is evidence enough of that. He discussed the hate on every single show he went on trying to promote Red Tails and even had some fun with it, wearing "Han shot first!" shirts. If there was one message sent it was that he could film himself wiping his ***, release it, and people would still spend billions buying merchandise of it.

Well than what does that tell you about human beings going out and spending their hard earned money.

Just make sure you buy your movie ticket. That's all that Disney cares about. Just in case you didn't know

I ain't an ant.

You made posts in which you gave your views. We can't have that. We don't serve your kind here, you'll have to wait outside.

I don't buy it, sorry.

He sold it because of the hate and he aknowleges it, but he doesn't get it. And that's the key. He thinks he made great movies that will stand the test of time with the prequels. He's still in denial about the actual content, not it's reception. To him it's 1977 again and everyone thinks crazy old George is bonkers. He needs to wake up and realise it's been 20 years and we still hate Ep.1.

If he wants true redemption for Indy 5, Jar Jar, force molecules, canning games, and all the other nonsense he should start by throwing himself down the nearest Death Star elevator shaft.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

:dunno I don't buy merchandise from films I despise. :lol

Agree but no matter what there will be hundreds of millions of people that will. And Disney and most of the world knows it

And then there would be a new crew bashing him for jumping into a shaft. Lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

If I were Lucas, I wouldn't feel like I had to apologize.

For me, yeah, I think he ****ed up with the Prequels (and started slipping in 1983 onwards), but look at him. He's laughing all the way to the bank. Even if he intentionally or unintentionally tried to **** it all up (he doesn't seem to like his older stuff, which is a shame), he still contributed to classic characters and a mythos most people can love.

I just wish he wasn't so stubborn and released and showed some respect to the originals with the best possible format available to audiences. I mean, he may not like them, but that doesn't mean all the people that fell in love with it decades ago have the same resentment. It's like, yeah, do what you want or whatever. It seems crazy and asinine to me, but have at it. But please, PLEASE don't crap on the stuff that started it at all. Without those, the guy wouldn't even have a career.

I kinda really freakin agree with that

Agreed, but like Deckard says, I suspect these films are precisely what he wanted to produce (lord knows he had the resources to represent his vision), and on par with the original films. I bet the backlash really is baffling to him, and he probably shrugs most of it off as folks being irrationally nostalgic.

Funny how hypocrisy works, ain't it? :lol

Yup. At the end of the day, Star Wars was his property and whether or not the masses like or hate them, he told the stories he wanted to tell about his property. There's no need for him to apologize and quite frankly, it's out of place to expect him to.

Agree but it's only hypocrisy if those who didn't like the film and bought stuff. We know that many liked/loved the film prequels. Many bought things for their children too. I bet Some closet SW fans exist too I bet that loved it but to afraid to admit it because they might get made fun of or worse have Nam yell at them lol. I do 100% agree that Lucas should not apologize for what he gave us. What's done is done. I'm glad he gave us IJ and SW

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I tend to look on his handing it over to new people as all the apology I need. They'll restore balance to the force. Or not. In the end, I'll always have Termina- Empire Strikes Back.
