Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I suggested a "Sith cult" earlier. I could get behind the idea of some naive Force users trying to resurrect the Sith. But really? This fight has been going on for 30 years? Seems a bit much.... I can see Plagueis and/or Palpatine fitting into this rumored plot quite well.

Chrome troopers sound cool and very Flash Gordon. Although it's not new for fans of KotOR. The Sith Empire used soldiers dressed in chrome armor in their conquests of the galaxy. Still, it'll be to see a similar design realized on screen if these rumors are true.

I also hope this isn't directly tied to CW or Rebels. These are movies. They shouldn't depend on some cartoon to make them good. They should stand up on their own.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Hunter/Killers you say?

Hmmmmm....

Black and chrome is simply a nod to the original Kenner packaging of the 70's.

Looks like JJ is really trying to "please" fans and not do anything new.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Palpatine and Vader were the only ones concerned with the Jedi... and by the OT, even they were surprised by a new stir within the force. the galaxy by this time considered them extinct... a failed religion... worship the Sith? Palpatine did not govern as a Sith... he did not rule as Darth Sidious... very few knew his true identity... as far as resurrecting the Sith... there are always two... they next in line would have been stepped up after Palpatine's death.

Why did they get a grandpa to be in this movie? They clearly don't understand the young people...

POTENTIAL SPOILERS!!!

https://www.starwars7news.com/2014/06/rumors-who-are-star-wars-episode-7.html#more

I’m going to say it again for clarity: I have not had communication or spoken to anyone that has held a script in their hands or read it. This rumor is a rumor amongst the people around Pinewood, some on Star Wars VII and some in the vicinity. These people are informed but things are still a mystery to them too.

  • The bad guys in Star Wars: Episode VII are being called “Jedi Hunters” by people working on and around the film. These are scary individuals, dressed in black, some helmeted, that hunt Jedi for the Empire. They all said the premise of the Inquisitor from Star Wars Rebels sounds identical to what is in the film itself. It should be noted that none of the sources heard the term “Inquisitor.” They just heard “Jedi Hunters” as they were referred to on and around the sets in various departments. These hunters use lightsabers. One said they had the impression the Jedi were fighting this group for a very long time.

  • A third source is adamant that David Oyelowo is voicing one of the three villains in the film. That lines up with what Jedi News heard a while back. Maybe it is old information, I have no idea.

  • Another source says Lupita Nyong’o, Adam Driver, and David Oyelowo are making up the cast of villains in the film and they’re “Jedi Hunters.” They also said Lupita might wear “yellow contact lenses” in the film as she was seen trying them out and walking around with them some time ago to try them out.

  • The villains are said to be characterized by black and chrome with troopers in similar black and chrome uniforms. They’re very imperial, but very new.

  • Supposedly the “Jedi Hunters” or Inquisitors are the reason there is no New Republic after Return of the Jedi. That’s right, they’re saying there is no New Republic. Source #2 claims to have been on set for a sequence in which we learn the Jedi Hunters worship the Sith and want to resurrect them. Their mandate was to protect the Sith at all costs and insure their survival.
  • This source also believes Luke Skywalker has been fighting to stop this for the last thirty years of his life, but he is outnumbered, tired, and in need of help. The bad guys have a goal: The resurrection of the Sith and it “sounds like it happens in the next film” meaning Episode VIII and “I guess they kill him (said resurrected Sith) in IX.”

sounds like wishful thinking from Goyer fans.

Agreed. This sounds like an amalgamation of everything people have been speculating on, that this movie could be about.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I thought the Empire was crippled forever after Vader, Emperor and most of the higher ups were killed on the second Death Star?

Yeah, the second death star was supposed to be the end of the Empire. *I think* that report is suggesting it's a new order of baddies hunting down the Jedi, out of respect for the Sith. I dunno though I can't see them not bringing back the empire for this. From a marketing perspective they need Stormtroopers and Imperial ****. IMO

Yes, becuase killing a few bosses, and destroying one army base completely cripples an empire spanning thousands of worlds with likely millions of other officers who were in no way waiting to sieze power for themselves with their sizeable armies at their command once no one was left above them.

I actually hope that is touched on. It would seem naive to believe it could be so and yet (especially with the SE showing all the worlds celebrating Cinco de Mayo) that would seem to be what their expectations were, hence that carried over to the audience.

Yeah... I'm slowly getting LESS hopefull about this film with every "leak" we get.

Not becuase i believe the leaks, but becuase they hint at how few people truly "GET" Star Wars.

George Lucas, chief among them. :lol

Yes and No. Lucas... is a great ideaman, but a lousy story teller. he needs people to help reign him in sometimes. and he needs help with the scripting.

new hope and Indy prove he CAN direct.... or perhaps Could direct once.

Sorry but I pretty strongly disagree, sure he is definitely an ideas man. But when you examine the history of how these movies were made and who was made them, it becomes pretty clear that a) Star Wars became the hit it was *in spite* of George Lucas and b) George Lucas never understood where the magic and appeal of SW came from.

Yeah, ok, i can agree with that.

Yes, like hitting a small exhaust port on a planet sized space station causes total annihilation.

Others seizing power does not an Empire make. An Emperor is required. He dead. No successor, only two there are.

Maybe they posted a want ad on the Coruscant Evening Metro.
"Emperor wanted, Salary and Power unlimited, only evil Sith need apply, NO JEDI!"
