Think about it: The family angle in Star Wars. The Skywalker connection to the Force, good and bad. A lost soul with a special connection to the Force who must seek out a master and whom is destined to balance it. It's been a riff played over and over. How else would this play out if you wrote it? It just seems so natural given the context of the storylines from the six movies.

Hope Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet comes into the storyline...100% right on your analysis.....part of me wishes for another Phantom Menace...LOL...I actually liked it

I suspect he's only 'dead' in the Hollywood sense. He'll return, unless the Casting Call for Episode VIII was misdirection, or his return is composed merely of flashbacks

Agreed. I don't want to see any of the original cast go down, blaze of glory or not.

Same here and that's why I'm fully convinced they'll kill Solo in this film and probably Luke in the next which will totally kill my childhood love for the OT. I'm a strong supporter of just "ignore the film's in a series you don't like", but killing the OT characters is over the line for me personally......so they'll do it.

Yep, but I'd also bet the ONLY way Ford agreed to return was for a dump truck of money PLUS killing Solo since he wanted Solo to die in ROTJ. It's like they insist on sticking it to the fans by killing beloved characters. I've said it before and someone else said it here......real life sucks enough and has enough death. I don't need cinema to mock that. I like a happy ending sometimes.

Stayed up all morning to watch it was worth the wait, best ever Star wars trailer? Seeing Han and Chewie together again..Who thought this would happen in 1999. I knew what he was planning. Probably decided to sell it to Disney in 1976.

In my area, all theaters that have reserved seats are pretty much sold out Thursday night or just the crappy seats left. Friday night and Saturday night are about half way sold out with reserved seats.

I missed getting tickets for the 7:00 showing, but was able to get good seats at 10:15, plus the theater has reserved seating so it will be a pretty hassle free night. Though I miss not being able to go to the first showing. It's actually the theater next to the Cinemark headquarters
