Wow, how did the stellar critical rotten tomatoes score for TLJ influence viewers in a negative way when they were all sucking RJ's **** saying its the best ever? Also if the majority of people didn't hate TLJ we wouldn't be seeing all these you tube videos, how many of these type of videos do you see for Avengers Infinity war or Star Wars OT?? You don't see any because the majority of people loved them. If most people didn't agree that TLJ was crap we wouldn't be seeing these videos, they would get no hits, in fact we would be seeing the opposite, a bunch of praise vidoes or sequel speculation videos. Im sure if you search really hard you will find hate vidoes for the OT, but they wont have many hits. The reason these videos are prevalent for TLJ is because the movie is hated by the vast majority of people so the content sells. You see the same **** with DCEU

The mob rules, and whatever sentiment is presented is what a lot of folks seem to adhere to (positive or negative). Just my opinion! I tend to stay away from movie reviews, as I don't really need anyone else's opinion in order to form one for myself. And as such, I found that I've actually enjoyed a lot of movies that seem to be universally hated, and on the flip side, I've hated movies that were very positively reviewed (Nolan's the Dark Knight for example).

You're telling me TLJ is bad because the majority of reviews of it are bad, and I'm disagreeing with that because it really is all just a matter of opinion in the end. And funny enough, I've only come across two people in person that had negative things to say about TLJ. Everyone else that I talk to at work, the comic shops, wherever else all liked it.

I believe the comparrison to how luke is portrayed in tlj to how batman is portrayed in bvs is very relevant. People who arent ok with how batman was portrayed in bvs cant be ok with how luke is portrayed in tlj otherwise they would be hipocrits.. i liked bvs but i didnt like batman killing fools, it goes compeletly against the character. There is no justification for these changes, its all spin zone ****. Your either ok with deviations or your not, cant have it both ways. If you going to justify one you have to justify the other because they are the same thing

Thanks for the well articulated, and reasonable positive thoughts on this very misunderstood movie! I couldn't agree with you more, and I loved this move for many of the reasons you mentioned. (I'm 47 by the way, so I've been around for all iterations of Star Wars as well)

Thank you. I'll say it again: it's been a kick to see the TLJ fans on this board find their way back to this thread in the last couple of days. Glad to see you here. :duff

WHAT!!??? Do you understand what the term "vast majority" implies? A "simple" majority is 51%. A "vast" majority would be something well beyond that.

So, where are you getting your numbers/facts? From RT audience score? The RT score shows 45% "liked" TLJ. But RT gets that percentage from people who gave the movie 3.5 stars or higher. So, if someone gives TLJ 3 out 5 stars, they go in the "didn't like it" category. I guess for you, that category somehow means "hated it." There's a big difference between "hating" a movie and just not liking/loving a movie. A 3 out of 5 isn't hating. Neither is a 2.5. But those scores get lumped into RT's "negative" side. So, your characterization that "the movie is hated by the vast majority of people" is laughably absurd.

Look at all of the various fan scores; RT has the lowest at an average of 2.9 out 5. IMDb has it at 7.2 out of 10. Google users have at 72% "liked this movie."

Where are you getting this authoritative assertion that you've posted several times about "a vast majority hated" TLJ?

The truth is that negativity sells. Negativity gets more clicks. It's human nature. These YouTube video reviews are emblematic of that. Then there's the sheep mentality. It's all sad and pathetic, but it is what is. Some people are sitting down to watch movies now where they're looking for "flaws" and things to criticize so they can fire up their camera and get to pretend to be relevant. Then a bunch of other people will flock to watch it so they can feel some semblance of the same phenomenon. Who cares what other people think!? But in spite of that, please don't misrepresent the sentiments of "vast majorities" of the audience unless you can back it up.

Lol if negativity sells why do t we see a ton of these hate videos for infintiy war or any other movie thats well recieved by the majority of people?? Also why did you ignore my luke batman comparison, im sure you hated bvs, why is that??

Actually, I didn't hate BVS. Far from it, actually. I found it refreshing that Snyder wanted to try a comic book/superhero movie that started to explore what it would be like if these meta humans and aliens actually existed in our real world. People wouldn't welcome and celebrate them with open arms. The idea that uber-powered superheroes would get to fly around and be greeted with cheers and love by humanity is so disconnected from true human nature that it's actually funny.

I avoided the subject of Batman because I don't see how it's relevant to this discussion about the audience perception of TLJ. Why did you avoid the subject about "vast majority?"

People do t waste time.making vidoes that appeal to a small minority of people, if everyone loved tlj or atleast the majority did we wouldnt be seeing these vidoes, no hits =no money= no sale= dont waste time making a video no one wants to see

Luke ia a huge problem with tlj just as how batman was portrayed in bvs

A huge problem for you, maybe. Not for me. It would have been a huge problem for me if TLJ hadn't given Luke a selfless reason and justification for abandoning everyone for years. That's the setup that TFA left us with, remember?

Well bvs gave batman a reason too robin was killed and he had givin up hope much like luke did. Neither are good reasons for such a drastic departure in character

I'm not saying that your interpretation of either character is wrong; it can't be "wrong" because it's merely an opinion. I'm just letting you know that my opinion on Luke is dramatically different.

Its not an opinion its fact luke goes from i know theres good in you father, if you do not change back to the light i will force you to destroy me to ill kill my nephew while hes sleeping because he had a bad thought he never acted on, and then in final encounter he taunts ben instead of saying i know theres still good in you son" we get a cocky see you around moment, great uncle he turned out to be lol.. i wont get into batman anymore everyone knows how he breaks character, but they are very similar thats for sure. Both ****ed up portrayals9

So if there's no good in someone Luke is supposed to lie and say that there is? Doesn't sound very heroic to me. I guess he should have tried to save Palpatine too then.

Your concept of what constitutes a "fact" is skewed. It's not a fact that Luke cavalierly wanted to kill his nephew "because he had a bad thought he never acted on" while he slept. If you don't understand the difference between "having a bad thought" and being heavily corrupted by the Dark Side when it comes to what Luke saw in Ben/Kylo, then I can't get you to understand.

If Luke wanted to redeem his father, it was for good reason. Vader couldn't kill Luke. He couldn't bring himself to do it when he over-matched Luke in ESB, and he couldn't do it in ROTJ. There WAS good in him, and Luke had enough evidence to approach his father the way he did.

Kylo, on the other hand, COULD kill Luke! Kylo killed his own father!! Different scenario from Anakin/Vader. How are you not picking up on this?

Its his family luke didnt know his father could be changed he just believed he could. Unlike kylo vader had done so many terrible things, but it was his hope and love for his father that changed him BACK, he was willing to die to for his father to get him back.. a person with that sort of conviction wouldnt change so easily espicially when its his newphew who hadd t dont anything at that moment, nothing compared to vader
If he believed he could turn vader (which he succeded at doing) back then he should have had no doubts about ben

Yep, very simple concepts that for whatever reason fly right over some people's heads. The notion that "if you're related to someone then you can change the fabric of their soul" is complete nonsense and never even hinted at in the SW Saga. Luke could only bring out aspects of a person that actually existed in the first place, a lesson that Rey had yet to learn.

Nothing flew over my head, im glad you guys think this old.dude in tlj is a perfect depiction of luke, i personally think your crazy. Luke converted vader back but he so easily gave up on ben im glad that makes perfect sense to you all that like how luke was portrayed in the last jedi. And maybe your right vader wasnt such a bad dude after all, he wouldnt kill his son, but luke now he is the real ******* he wanted to humiliate and destroy his nephew for having visions of ****. Its not about blood its about making sense.. kylo is worst then vader while training as a jedi and having perverted dreams what??

Agreed. One of the easiest takeaways from the OT is that Vader's awareness that he had a son (and later learned, a daughter) made him re-evaluate things. It might not have made him benevolent, but it showed there was some good in him that could be tapped into to redeem his soul. There's no suggestion that the same is true for any other scenario with someone who's been corrupted by the Dark Side. And no suggestion that simply being related has any bearing on the ability to redeem a corrupted soul.

But, Khev, please don't compare TLJ to IM3 or TDKR anymore. You're just hurting my soul now. :lol

Wow. Okay, now I get it: you saw a different cut of TLJ. Got it.
