Wait!! It was posted on YouTube by some random person whose opinion carries no more weight than absolutely any one else's...so everything in it must be true!

Yes, one bolsters ones irrelevant opinion by posting many videos of other peoples irrelevant opinion.

I am actually sick of videos from YouTube being posted here in general...don't really care whether they are praising TLJ or bashing it...

Multiple account bans and lashes to anyone that posts the episode 9 trailer when it hits! :lecture

I generally skip video posts but since the VaultBoy period I find it refreshing to scroll past a single video posted one time.

I understand your point; but please remember that it's been a whole f'ing year since TLJ came out, and people are still posting YouTube clips complaining about stuff like Luke drinking milk from a sea cow. That's unreal! At what point can the discussion here officially move beyond the same tired YouTube talking points and actually stay substantive by having people state and defend their own opinions?

It's been a year of going back and forth about this insane perception that Rian Johnson was out to make a Star Wars movie that would divide the fanbase. A whole year of going back and forth about how he "*****" people's childhoods (. . . somehow). And the YouTube vids have been feeding this all along.

And here's the kicker: all of this fury for an entire year about Rian Johnson ruining the franchise, and yet just last week there was a discussion in one of these threads about how TLJ basically changed nothing from where we were at the end of TFA. :rotfl I do think TLJ changed things quite a bit, but I still find it hysterically funny that after a year's worth of angry YouTube vids and comments, the question being asked is: "did TLJ actually change anything?" :lol

So, yeah, these YouTube clips that have basically been replacing independent thought and analysis have gotten really tiresome for some of us. For those of us who think TLJ was a pretty damn good movie, it'd be nice to actually discuss the individual scenes and storylines instead of endlessly dealing with complaints generated by YouTubers who need to be angry in order for their hate videos to get more clicks. Most of the time, the YouTube criticisms are either superficial or easily refuted by actually just paying close attention to the movies anyway. So it's also just lazy.

It's Star Wars anyways, people are still complaining about Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace. No one hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans. Plus, people have been saying the franchise is ruined since 1980 with ESB. Tons of people hated that movie when it was released, now its considered the best. Time heals all wounds. But Star Wars fans can be extremely toxic and will never let things go. People still bully Jake Lloyd over a roll in 1999.

Internet winner today.

Facts are now easily replaced by continually shouting opinions in every format, and its incredible that its made it all the way to politics as a way to “communicate”. I have never seen the landscape so devoid of actually discussion and well formed opinions. And seeing facts ignored simply because someone is shouting the lies is truly sad.

Now, that being said, most of the posters left on the forum now are pretty damn good at civil discussion, even when we disagree on the important topics of the day .....ala StarWars.

I don’t mind the occasional video, but much prefer the wall of text that comes directly from our members. Vault Boys posts were a nuisance and clogged up the forum. Its the equivalent of the shout down in politics. Its a shame because I think he had some valid points, which ended up drowned out by repetition and click bait videos.

The discussion, of if you like TLJ or not, (although a but repetitive after a year) at least now contains much more substance with the current community.

So? It’s one big hug fest in here. Let someone post a funny vid about the movie or a negative opinion for you to discuss. It’s not even a bad video. It was satire. Not even like it’s trolling. It’s a discussion forum not the last Jedi peace positive thread. Movies get made fun of all the time. The PT got it and now this movie got it. Not a big deal. Nobody is even angry. You’d know that if you watched the video.

Holy crap.

Right? People have been doing this forever. It’s no big deal. It’s funny. Have some fun with it. People hate ROTS and I think it’s the best Star Wars movie. When they post a funny vid about it I roll my eyes and laugh. Cause I know no one will be satisfied anyway

Agreed (except in the case of AOTC and ROTS, lol.)

I really do think that a lot of people will come around on TLJ in time. Not today or next year, but eventually, even if it's 10 or 20 years (hell next year is already the 20th anniversary of TPM.)

Luke drinking milk or projecting himself eventually won't be this new and shocking thing, it will just be part of the lore and what remains will be a well shot, well written (mostly) and extremely well acted entry in the Saga no longer tied to any "present day" SJW trigger topics.

Dude, I'm not telling anyone not to post videos. You can post whatever you want. But you made a point about TLJ fans getting pissed when YouTube clips get posted here, so I was explaining why that happens. I don't mind addressing criticisms of TLJ; in fact,if you've paid any attention to this thread for the last several months, I've had plenty of back-and-forths with folks here who post their negative criticism. And I like that sort of discussion. But that's the point: actual discussion about our own differing opinions requires actual independent thought. You can't have a discussion with a YouTube video.

I think the actual trailer from Lucasfilm will be welcome...video filmed in some guy's basement about everything that is wrong with the trailer and why Kathleen Kennedy, Ruin Johnson, and JJ Abrams have destroyed what passes for his life...not so much...
