Fans don’t have to justify what they love....if the love something of course they are going to talk about it....
Trying to convince someone what they like is wrong is the thing that is weird......
And spending massive amounts of time on it....
I totally understand why people who like the film spend time talking about it.
Now, people who like the film trying to convince other to like it is also a waste of time....
I guess it comes down to I cannot understand why people would spend months bashing something they are suppose to hate?
Sounds Masochistic...
You don’t think it would be weird if 8 months from now people were posting in the Infinity War thread about how bad it is?

Yeah, exactly!!! People who enjoy the TLJ are usually talking about why they like it. We liked Luke's story, we like Rey as the new hero, we like the struggles Kylo is going through. And most of us do point of faults we don't like, like the casino scene, Rey's cave scene, and other things. But overall to me I can still love the movie because the good far outweighed the bad for me. Just like the PTs. The acting is what bothers me the most about those, but I absolutely love the stories. And the stories for me outweigh the bad acting. I am not expecting anyone to win Best Actor in a SW movie or Best Director either. I just like the universe, the fun, and the stories.
But its usually when the people who hate on it they start to say very sexist things about the film or call it a SJW movie, or start attacking Kathleen, JJ and Rian for ruining their childhood, or all the crazy conspiracies with Disney, RTs, or whatever, or taking things out of context, and thats what usually sets off the nasty debates.
I don't mind if people didn't like Luke's story or the movie if they give decent reasons why, its just most start hating on it with "conspiracy" talk and yelling at people that they shouldn't like it because they think it sucks, then it just gets ridiculous, and it causes nasty debates.
There are reasons why Rian took Luke in this direction, he's explained them many times. And I like his reasons. If you have compelling reasons what you dislike it, thats totally fine. But they whole "ruined their childhood/conspiracy" mentality is just ridiculous. It all started during the PTs with Lucas, and now anytime people dislike a SW movie, it gets so out of hand with the haters.
I don't take it personally when someone dislikes a movie I like, but its the way they act about it is what bothers me. I guess because I like it, it bothers them too, but i try to be civil about it. If i don't agree I try to them why without personally attacking them. But it usually follows with snide remarks/gifs and bashing me because they think I am too liberal or too feminist.
