Im talking about the kind of posts JAWS makes but in 140 characters. Not haters or trolls. Hes cursing and banning anyone that shows the least dislike lol.

How professional for a director to get into online fights with star wars fans :lol :lol

Imagine rian insulting JAWS and banning him from here because he didnt love last jedi :lol

Goes to show you the strenght of character in zach snyder. The professionalism. The maturity of snyder.

Snyder got hate for warchnen, got hate for man if steel, for batman v superman. Lije 5 years of straight hate and snyder never lashed out. Never got into fights inlibe...

Rian cant last 6 months without freaking out the way paul feig did with ghostbusters...
What a pathetic director

Looks like he's just blocking the beligerent a-holes. But it doesn't really matter at this point since his broad generalizations have turned off too many fans. The damage is done at this point, the animosity between Rian and fans is mutual and personal and LFL should just let him go.

In contrast to TLJ audiences are avoiding Solo like the plague but Howard isn't lashing out at them. His most recent tweet just said that he feels bad that a lot of people who might actually like his movie are going to miss the opportunity to see it on the big screen. Of course the cast of Solo is also helping out by not throwing fuel on the fire with their own complaints about the process.

Lots of class and professionalism both behind and in front of the camera on Solo and I think over time the "unfair" box office failure of this film will only endear people to it even more.

The movie is what it is and it definitely has a fair share of issues but after watching it again this past week I still find the positive to outweigh the negative. My biggest issues with the ST will probably always be that it seemingly negates the hard earned victory of the OT. My understanding of the FO is that a remnant of the Empire retreated outside the known galaxy years after ROTJ where Snoke found them and built them into what they are in the ST, I just wish that had been more clearly spelled out in the actual films.

I'm fine with the old heroes coming out of retirement to fight "new" bad guys (and that's great if that's what Snoke is,) what I don't like is the idea that they're just fighting the same enemy that they apparently never defeated the first time around.

The more I become aware of Rian's tweets and comments though the more I just want to compartmentalize the finished film away from him. He does often come across as a fan-flaming prick. Not that I need filmmakers and/or actors to be nice and cool but I do go out of my way to ignore those who are the most annoying so that otherwise good work doesn't get tainted as a result.

I completely agree with you about the positives outweighing the negatives. But, yeah, Rian Johnson's defensiveness and attitude make it so much harder to defend TLJ. I wish LFL/Disney could just muzzle him. For a guy who once said that he likes to have half of the audience hate his work, he sure seems to have a problem dealing with that half after he's achieved his goal. Just comes across as petulant.

Everyone can finally see him for what he is, and it only took him a few months... I remember when he first started ‘talking back’ and explaining and making excuses some folks applauded him for it and said it was the right/strong thing to do... but it betrayed how insecure he was right there.

Crows brings up a good point about Snyder... the man is ****ted upon constantly for every little thing he does but he’s remained classy through it all. I remember when the story about him being let go (instead of the initial daughter story) broke out he even said something to the effect of ‘I can understand why they did it, I’d probably do the same in their shoes.’

Further, the grand daddy of SW, George Lucas suffered an unbelievable amount of ridicule and hate for 15(!) years yet never once attacked the fans. He shared that he felt sad about the reception his labors of love received, yet stayed classy. Even look at Ron Howard now with Star Wars’ first bomb - classy.

The good thing is I can’t imagine Disney holding onto anyone who calls fans ***holes, since he’s not just blocking the crazy types but even the ones with rational arguments that are well stated. (If anyone runs with the story anyway)

Or maybe we’ll just get another ‘Rian Johnson goes insane on twitter and calls SW fans **holes - And that’s a good thing.’ :lol

It took me almost a decade to finally agree and understand that the matrix reloaded and the matrix revolutions were really bad movies.
For a long time i defended them to the last breath.... i was awe by the fight choreography, by keanu. By how hot trinity and the chick in green was. I defended the story.
I said it was a good action movie
But after a while. After seeing it from an objective view... it is just a terribly written movie. Terrible story. Just a bad writing job

My only hope is that years from now people can objectively see how truly awful this story was written.

I STILL am awed by the fights. That will never go away. I still love neo. Still love the highway scene.

But matrix 2 has SuCH GIANT plot holes.... so much incoherent stuff.

You're making a really great case here, no doubt. But, trust me, there are SW fans like me who were desperately hoping for SW movies to return to the screen after the diarrhea that was the prequels, who are grateful for the acting, the dialogue, the cinematography, the effects, and the soberness of the TLJ story. There are a lot of weak story-telling points to it, yes (and other problems as well). But there's enough good to cling to (at least for me) that brings SW back out from the only-anyone-under-10-years-of-age-can-enjoy-this dialogue, acting, effects, and destruction of cinema's greatest villain ever that the prequels gave us.

Matrix 2 had to follow the mind-blowing first one. The ST is following the PT. Maybe 10 years from now I'll hate TLJ as much as you do. But for now, fans like me are going to be more forgiving because the sins of TLJ don't even begin to measure up to the sins of the PT.

But, I'll admit: your Matrix analogy hit home. Damn you! :lol

If a movie entertains you for 10 years then it did its job regardless of any shortcomings, perceived or not.

I honestly think if a movie entertained you the first time it's done it's job, regardless of if you started hating it after for whatever reasons

Even if I hated a movie, I don’t think anyone is obliged to keep politely reading criticism from the masses on social media. It says more about the fans than him. What’s done is done. : dunno

No he definitely doesn't have to keep reading it, but there's a thing called professionalism, which Lucas and Howard have displayed but Johnson has not.
