I'm betting that's the subject of Johnson's new trilogy. Of course I could be wrong. :dunno

On a side note, the TLJ Visual Dictionary confirms Snoke isn't a Sith - so the Plagueis theory is gone for good.

Clearly. That Plagueis theory lost most of its appeal anyway when they started introducing the idea (in a book) that Palpatine felt something hugely powerful in the Force from the unknown regions. What could it be if not Snoke?
But Ruin Johnson didn't feel like dedicating even one sentence to this matter in TLJ. Rose is far more crucial.

Haha I hope you're wrong about Johnson's trilogy. What would that look like anyway? Force kids are useless without masters, and he showed he doesn't like to include any kind of real training, apparently in his understanding of SW it's useless :lol
We know it's separate from the main saga so it can't be about Rey training a bunch of padawans.

He'd be 38 years old. :gah:

you know who to blame for that?

I still don't get how Rey can beat Snoke's guards. They're supposed to be elite fighters, maybe the best fighters in the FO, and thye were no match for two padawans swinging light sabers like Alec Guinness back in the 70's. :lol

Especially considering that neither Rey or Kylo used the Force to beat them :lol
I mean it's implied that when a Force user is fighting, they are using the Force to enhance their physical abilities, but they didn't use the Force in an offensive way at least. Against guards with armors that can resist lightsaber strikes.

Man this fight was soooo slow. I think on first viewing it's like "oooh flashy, cool finally some lightsaber action, red guards nice", and then you watch it again and it's like a very slow and boring dance.

I went to the trouble of responding to your "10 Best Theatrical Movies of 2017" thread with each and every movie I saw at the theater yet do you care? Nope! :tap

;)

I can't keep up with this thread and other threads at the same time.. Even ones I started :lol

I reckon Ep IX will jump forward in time to Rey training the next generation. This will also conveniently explain Leia's absence.

The new trilogy will spin off of that. Then I'm out of SW. :)

It is interesting to see the reviews, which pretty much show a 50:50 split in like dislike.

Yet the money keeps rolling in. Even without the over thought analysis comparing box office of this to past films, by just about any measure it was a financial success....one might argue more was expected ....but right now , as it stands , it’s not the flop the reviews seem to suggest...

I am in the camp that more people who like it are casual fans who do not run to the computer to post their hate on every web site they can....they go, pay the admission, had a good twine and went home. Maybe seeing it again with people who are similar to them.

I say this because I had dinner with just these type of people this week....

They heard it was controversial...but wanted to see a film Saturday night...saw TLJ ...enjoyed it.

There is something to be said on contemplating the box off had all fans like it.

I just do not think that any SW film will every achieve that....Ever.....again.

Well if we want purely anecdotal evidence, both of my brothers saw it and hated it.

My friend the ultra-SW nerd that loved TFA would only say it was "weird..."

The guy that dragged me to see it also thought it sucked.

My two most ultra liberal leftist friends that are also lifelong SW fans claim they "really liked it."

I don't know. Some people like it. I'll never know if they REALLY liked it or just convinced themselves they liked it cause it's SW, or if they are just dumb and anything flashy and loud will entertain them. I'm just projecting cause I simply can't fathom enjoying anything about this movie.

For the record in case you missed it the sixty two times I said it before in this thread I ****ing hated this ******* movie and I want it scrubbed from the fabric of existence.

I fall more into that category and TLJ is at the very bottom of my Star Wars list. Lower than AOTC.
That being said I am well aware this will be fairly rare among 'my kind'. I hate the SJW mentality, and Kennedy's heavy handed messages in SW movies (well, especially when the movie is awful).

I think it’s all about mindset, perhaps?

You can be more casual with your temperament and still be a dedicated fan. I am a lover of Star Wars, through and through, even if I have to skip half of AOTC every time I watch it.

Anyway, Star Wars is in the top three of my favorite franchises, alongside DC comics and Dragon Ball. I own most of the film and film collections that have been released since the ‘97 gold box, as well as most of the movie soundtracks. I’ve kept all my ticket stubs from every single theatrical release since The Phantom Menace. I still own all of my old childhood toys, as well as a ton of carded toys from when I began collecting. I have both versions of the Millenium Falcon that Hasbro has produced since POTF, as well as some of the Original Trilogy POTF play sets. And that ridiculous Jabba. I’ve now got quite a decent collection of 6” Black Series figures and imports. And I have roughly seven lightsabers. I even have a humble collection of books, graphics novels, visual dictionaries and a few posters.

Furthermore, I have only ever parted with a few pieces of Star Wars memorabilia in my lifetime and they were given away as secondhand gifts. Although, I did upgrade my Sideshow Obi-Wan and Darth Vader to the Hot Toys iterations.

So, I dunno. That’s my fandom in a nutshell. I’m not upset about the film. All I know is I enjoyed it and I would consider myself a pretty big fan. I didn’t come out of the film disgusted or threatened by whatever leftist, progressive PC mess everyone’s complaining about. I merely had a good time. Sure, the unnecessary subplot should have been rewritten, but it was certainly not nearly as bad as the dialogue and the chemistry between Hayden and Natalie in Attack of the Clones. :lol

.

My very liberal sister in law and my very liberal best friend and his very liberal brother all liked it also.. They did not bring up politics and neither did I when discussing it with them.

They all loved Rose also...

I am not trying to turn this political. But my more conservative friends (even the ones who don't really care about politics) did not care for the film and all hated Rose.

Of course that probably means nothing as I am sure there are libs who hate it and cons who love it.. Just weird that my friend are divided down the middle like that.

My one friend could not believe I hated Rose and asked what was wrong with her. I was shocked by the question as I can't see how anyone cant see the issue with her goofy character.

Oh yeah? I met Dave Prowse, Jeremy Bulloch, and Uncle Owen at a convention in 1998.

Just felt like bragging.
