Is it possible to learn this power?

:rotfl why didn’t I think of this? Damn you get the medal. Awaiting the response.. hope it’s good...

I said the same about comparing a staff to a lightsaber many many pages ago.... No one ever called me out on it... :(

Awww :( link me the post and I’ll be sure to quote you and have a go at that! But don’t feel bad I’ve written some quite lengthy posts that never got a reply as well...

Tit-for-tat real world logic w/ Star Wars...okay. :dunno

What are the stats on crossbow-injured, emotionally unstable and quite chilly force users against scrappy junk peddlers again?

It’s not even about real world logic, it’s been shown what a deadly weapon a lightsaber is, if you move it just slightly wrong, it’d take a slice out of you, and Rey is already an expert at spinning it. Compare that to how she was using her staff.

Further no one is able to force pull without training until tfa and TLJ, when she pulls the saber, and broom boy repeats so with the broom.

It just doesn’t make sense.

As to your last question the more experienced one would actually win in RL, just as as he was going to in the movie - until her magic force awakening moment kicked in and she just couldn’t be stopped. So there’s the fantasy logic.

If you want to get more real just imagine an injured seal or marine vs a scrappy junk peddling hobo :lol

Gee thanks. :lol

Sorry I know this is serious.
I’ll get my hat.

Godspeed. :lol

Have you ever met children who live without adult care? I have, in Latin America. The notion of Rey raising herself to be a well-adjusted, worldly, spotlessly clean, well-spoken, etc. sans parents in a dog-eat-dog environment is a fantasy more absurd than using our minds to move objects.

I'm not saying people do not rise out of those circumstances, but they do so with a support structure, even if a single caring adult who can transmit the requisite skills, which Jakku conspicuously lacks for anyone.

The onus is on the storyteller to make this seem believable on screen. They present absolutely nothing to suggest she knows how to pilot a vehicle that flies off the ground. She even tells Finn she has no idea how she manoeuvred the Falcon thusly to outfly trained pilots. You can't learn to fight without training partners, full stop. Rey doesn't even seem to have access to a reliable supply of food on screen, but she's in the pink of health. It's all just absurd.

She's a shallow, uninspiring wish-fulfillment character that is actually a major regression for women as action heros. She reminds me of male pulp heroes, who now seem boring and implausible.

All this is true in the really real world.....but correct me if I am wrong.....did not the precious LUKE SKYWALKER fly an X-wing without us seeing HIM fly anything that went off the ground? How about shoot the guns on the Falcon? Swing across a bridge using a rope? Do we have any justification in OT as to WHY Luke can even fire a blaster with accuracy and out gun trained Stormtroopers?

I am not bashing OT here...just pointing out once again that the eyes you are looking at this film, which is made for the new generation of kids, is skewed by the fact that we are all older cynical farts who want plausible, deeply explained, rational explanations for our space wizard and the magic they perform....

While we are at it......How did Indiana Jones survive an ocean voyage attached to a periscope on a submarine? I mention this because most of the films held in high regard here ,if put to the test of out viewership today, would not survive.....

The movie going public is ever demanding and ruthless when critiquing modern films....look at BR2049.....even a great film like that has people who hated it.

all this should be prefaced with "in my opinion" of course

yeah cause you would never hand such a deadly weapon to a blind 5 year old child would you?

oh wait they are being trained...that makes all the difference right....forgot...

When the above becomes "Star Wars", its time for me to leave. The comic kids have taken over Star Wars. And look what they did with those.

its already canon.....

Game : The Force Unleashed
Set in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, Darth Vader is sent by Emperor Palpatine to destroy a Jedi named Kento Marek who survived Palpatine's Jedi purge and is hiding on the Wookiee homeworld, Kashyyyk. The Force Unleashed begins with the player controlling Darth Vader as he searches Kashyyyk for Marek.[14][15] After defeating Marek in battle, Vader discovers his child, Galen Marek, who is strong in the Force and raises him to become his apprentice, unbeknownst to the Emperor.

When the apprentice (known in the game as "Starkiller", and whom the player now controls) reaches adulthood, Vader sends him to kill the remaining Jedi as training for his ultimate goal: assassinating the Emperor so Vader and Starkiller can rule the galaxy together. Starkiller travels between missions aboard the Rogue Shadow, developing a close relationship with his crew, consisting of lightsaber training droid PROXY and Imperial pilot Juno Eclipse.[16] Starkiller is first sent to defeat an aging Jedi Master that has his own security force: Rahm Kota. In this fight, Kota sees various visions of Starkiller's future before being blinded by Starkiller's lightsaber and falling to the ecumenopolis of Nar Shaddaa below. He is then sent to defeat an insane Jedi Master on Raxus Prime who has animated pieces of metal to create droids: Kazdan Paratus. Paratus and all of his droids are destroyed, including Paratus's mock Jedi Council. Finally, Starkiller is sent to kill former Jedi Councilwoman Shaak Ti on Felucia. Ti has militarised the local Force-sensitive Felucians as well as influenced the local fauna to attack Starkiller. Ultimately unsuccessful, Shaak Ti prophesises that the Sith will always turn on one another before she commits suicide by jumping into the sarlacc pit, becoming a Force ghost.

Ti's prophecy comes true immediately. The Emperor discovers Starkiller's existence and forces Vader to kill the apprentice; Vader impales Starkiller and hurls him into space, but secretly dispatches droids to retrieve and revive him. Vader sends his apprentice to foster a rebellion among those who resist the Empire, distracting the Emperor so Vader can make his move. Despite being ordered by Vader to sever all ties to his past, Starkiller rescues Juno, who had been arrested and branded a traitor to the Empire. Starkiller proceeds to break into various Imperial facilities and recruit several allies, including Rahm Kota (who had survived his fall after the battle in the TIE Fighter shipyard), Princess Leia Organa, and her father Senator Bail Organa. In the process, Starkiller learns from Kota about the Jedi way, which ultimately leads him into sparing Jedi apprentice Maris Brood, who had succumbed to corruption by the Dark Side after the death of her master Shaak Ti on Felucia. Juno eventually discovers Starkiller is still working for Vader, but after berating him, agrees not to say anything. As a major strike to rally the Empire's enemies and prove the Empire is vulnerable, Starkiller destroys a Star Destroyer facility on Raxus Prime. With Kota's instruction, Starkiller amazingly pulls a massive Star Destroyer out of the sky with the Force.

Senators Organa, Mon Mothma, and Garm Bel Iblis meet on Corellia to plan a rebellion against the Empire, but are interrupted when Darth Vader arrives and arrests them and Kota. Vader attacks Starkiller and reveals that he was never meant to overthrow the Emperor; from the beginning, he was the Emperor's tool to expose his enemies, and that Vader's plans to overthrow the Emperor did not include Starkiller. PROXY sacrifices himself to distract Vader and allow Starkiller to escape. Starkiller uses the Force to ascertain the senators' and Kota's location: the Death Star. Upon arrival, Starkiller shares a kiss with Juno before bidding her goodbye. Inside the space station, Starkiller duels Darth Vader and manages to defeat his former master. As the Emperor goads Starkiller into killing Vader, Kota steals the Emperor's lightsaber and tries to attack him, but is incapacitated by the Emperor's Force lightning.

So the Force is basically an Infinity Gauntlet now? Suckass Star Wars.

Using idiocy against idiocy does not make a winning argument. :lol

:lol ... But logic, and being a parent, would tell me those are training lightsabers. If a mistake is made, they get a really bad shock, not lose a limb.

Unless of course Yoda is secretly a sadist?? I'm sure he may have had a bit of a Napolean complex as well.... :wink1:

You'd hope so. And either way surely they should all be stood much further apart. Scene fail right there. That's before you even get to the stupidity of one of those kids figuring out something that Obi-Wan couldn't.
