LOL well I'm still buying the BR. I'm just surprised Empire magazine isn't getting trashed for:

Star Wars The Last Jedi and Thor Ragnarok Lead Empire Awards 2018 Nominations

https://www.empireonline.com/movies/news/star-wars-last-jedi-thor-ragnarok-lead-empire-awards-2018-nominations/

The nominations have been received and tallied up, and the shortlist is in for the Empire Awards 2018 - the awards show voted for by you, our readers.

John Boyega... nominated for BEST ACTOR for TLJ... of ALL the films released in 2017? Competing against Gary Oldman from Darkest Hour?

W...T...F?:rotfl

"Voted for by you, our readers"? The media launches an FBI investigation into the "bots fraud" of RT user scores for TLJ and this bizarre **** is just casually reported and linked?

I wouldn’t mind having her and Galadriel to myself at once... let the light rise up to meet the dark.. as it were

I'm not wild over the actress or anything. I haven't even seen any of the LOTR movies. I do remember falling asleep reading the books though...

That's a bit fatalistic.:lol

Nah, not when so many aspects of the story have already been resolved. Sure I'm looking forward to one final showdown between Kylo and Rey and assumedly one last spectacular large scale battle that may or may not end the First Order once and for all (until the Second Order rises from the ashes in Johnson's new trilogy anyway, lol) but I like that TLJ had a satisfying enough ending on it's own that I don't *need* to see what happens immediately after the Falcon leaves Crait.

Eh, the long term health and well-being implications of spoilers are the social construct of an entitled generation. Back in the day we were more concerned with beatings (from parents, teachers, bus drivers, etc,) alcoholism and serial killers.:lol

Uh I was there back in the day and thankfully didn't live minute to minute wondering where my next beating would come from, lol. But if I had unwittingly denied myself the greatest cinematic experience of all time because of a book, a BOOK (insert Jack Napier meme) then I suppose I'd probably cling to an attitude of "well at least my bus driver isn't beating me with a tire iron" as a coping mechanism too. ;)

I read it (and it's a **** book in retrospect btw) again after finally finding a SW carded Boba Fett in San Rafael in April/May 1980, the day before I met all the ILM employee locals at a diner who gave me even more stuff. Them's was the days.:yess::lol

Now those *are* good memories worth looking back fondly on. :duff

:lol :lol

With regard to aliens only RO has been OT worthy. Pretty much every single alien that you see in Jedha (some for like half a second) are better than anything from the PT, TFA or TLJ. Best new designs in TFA and TLJ have been the red characters. Those faceless pirate dudes that boarded Han's ship and the Praetorian Guards. Snoke himself is pretty sweet.

I love the RO crew with the exception of the mind-reading octopus. Design was lame, cgi was the worst in the movie, and he didn't even really serve a point. He was said to know if Bodi was telling the truth, which became irrelevant, and the side effect was insanity, which was actually about the same as two xanax.

Unless I'm missing something?

Otherwise, love the RO aliens.

Regarding TFA, I liked all the Jakku aliens and rathtars. I know everyone hates them - suck it. They're super 80s. :lol

The RO Jedha streets "burka brides" were a little odd - but I guess it was all part of the whole morally murky RO visual thematics of "terrorists" in a desert locale with Arab architecture engaged in asymmetric warfare against an "occupying military" there to take natural resources (while battling/destroying the many-centuries-old religion resident there.) In a place that sounds just a tad like the certain city just outside Mecca (that would be JEDDAH, which is totally different from JEDHA.):slap

And all I can say about Snoke is thank goodness he didn't dress in black and wear a hood, because they could have just CGI'ed Rey's head onto Luke's body and Kylo's head onto Vader's body and then cut-pasted the entire ROTJ throne room sequence into TLJ and no one would have noticed the difference.:rotfl

Snoke dressed single and ready to mingle. I bet those lobster guys saw a lot of things they were happy to have lightsabered out of their heads.

I believe the idea was that Bor Gullet puts you into a trance like truth serum that makes you answer all questions truthfully for however long you can last until your brain is fried. Otherwise what difference does it make if "Bor Gullet will know the truth" if he can't actually speak words and tell anyone else, lol.

Yes I love the rathtars too I just wouldn't consider them "OT worthy." :) They're more "Critters/Little Shop of Horrors/Big Trouble in Little China" worthy, which is *awesome* since a big part of TFA's aesthetic was to design it as if it really did come out three years after ROTJ. So rathtars fit right in with all those 1986 beasties from the movies I just mentioned plus the grating and big doors on Han's ship that looked like they had giant yellow "W's" painted on them were straight out of ALIENS. Completing the 1986 vibe were all the Jedha aliens that looked like the goblins from Labyrinth. Very cool.
