Hamill complained about ROTJ too. Thought Luke should turn dark and wear a top knot.

He got whatever the 80s version of Cool Story Bro was.

Actually the goal is to pull in a wider audience to make more money. Hence the cynical pandering to females.

Trying to get females attention is what led to the video game crash of the 1980’s same **** will happen to the movies

Snoke dressed single and ready to mingle. I bet those lobster guys saw a lot of things they were happy to have lightsabered out of their heads.

:lol :lol :rotfl:lol

It’s interesting how many people care about what Hamill has to say about the SW films, but completely shut his political opinions out when he voices them.....

I mean, who really cares what the actor thinks?

A lot of actors hate the films the do....

Kettle ....meet pot.....

Yes to this entire post. :lecture

Kettle meet pot indeed.

There’s some news out there on the googles about deleted scenes and additional scenes for the novelization.

This, 100%. Imagine if you went to a restaurant, ate a delicious steak and then the cook comes out of the back and starts telling you his political views and how he didn't really want to cook the steak , on and on. It's the same with actors and singers, I saw the movie and I heard your song, transaction over! I don't care what you think , or what you think I should think.

I also don't care when a celebrity tries to enforce their political views. If they are actively involved, planning to run for a position, then fine it has merit. But otherwise, nope.

An actor discussing his/her role in a movie is totally different. They are contractually obligated to go on press interviews and world tours for the media to help market & advertise the movie. They are on numerous talk shows and interviewed in trade publications & on internet websites. For weeks on end. This has been the way for I don't know how many years. So to say in general people don't care about what the actor has to say about the Movie/TV show they are in is irrelevant is a bit of a stretch. You may not care, but millions do. Otherwise all the talk shows would've gone of the air decades ago, and the studios would no longer bother with this type of media marketing...

And Hamill is also a little different. He is the only SW actor to have been vested in his character of Luke Skywalker for 40 years. He is the only actor that never complained about his role and how he was perceived, unlike Ford, Guinness, Fisher, Portman.... He cares about the character and the fans. He is one of us. A giddy nerd fan boy. SO I do care about his opinion, as should a writer/director who is working with him. He has passion and the ear of the fans. Two things you would most definitely want in an actor. To here that he is pushed to the side by Johnson & Kennedy is an insult to him and an FU to the fans. They apparently showed him no respect as he has said "my opinion doesn't matter, what do I know.." I genuinely feel bad for him. Cause he does care.... Respect to Mark Hamill... :rock

Lets set the record straight here.

I love Mark Hamill....met him talked with him for hours, super nice and personable.

But his take on the character he plays is his take, not mine.

You can’t have it both ways!

You wanna complain about the director or studio pushing an agenda or opinion, but Hamill can push whatever he wants? Just because he has been stuck playing the character for years? Hell , he didn’t even really want to do this role, but the dump truck of money changed his mind. And if you work for a company , you should back up the product and help support the project regardless of personal feelings. It’s called being a team player. If you pulled any kind of monkey business like trying to bad mouth a project you were involved with in any real job , you would be canned immediately.

So with all respect to Mark, he is allowed to feel as he does , and I know he is attached to Luke personally, but he really should be behind his project and put his feeling aside.
Now if you follow his posts at all , he’s not really good at that.

It’s just amazing to see people get on him for his anti Trump political views, but take his opinion on a story/character as gospel.

Outside of the films Hamill is just another fanboy like us who wants his favorite characters (especially the one he's associated with the most) to be "awesome." He said that he complained to Johnson that "Jedi don't give up." BS. Jedi can clearly fail in any conceivable way, up to and including forsaking their own Order and murdering their own kind. And you don't even need the prequels for that fact, it was all spelled out in ANH.

Plus this isn't just any Jedi it's Luke we're talking about. He's always been a chronic moper even after he became the savior of the Rebellion. I respect Hamill's work but his opinions about how his character should behave or where the Saga should go are no more valid than any of ours, especially when his preferences go against the established backstory of the films themselves.

Hitchcock said actors are like cattle.

He later clarified that he just meant they should be treated like cattle.

Anyone who approves of Jake Skywalker has zero standards. Period.

Man I love that scene...for what it says about Rey’s disillusionment , Luke’s disgust with what people expect from him, and for what it did to so many fans....

It’s perfect....

Oh wait, you say I have zero standard...I retract my statement....

****in right. Jake Skywalker: a coward with a murderous mind who turned his back on his sister, his friends, and the entire galaxy when they needed him most.... For 30 years. But you approve.

It's a great moment. You can even see that Luke is clearly playing it up on purpose to deliberately turn Rey off to seeking further assistance from him and is quite amused with himself as a result. Plus you've got the Sea Cow staring down Rey going "you got a problem" causing her to uncomfortably look away. So many great layers to that scene including real world metaphors. Luke obviously represents the fans of the movie, Rey is the haters, Johnson is the Sea Cow going "that's right, this is happening, deal with it" and the teets giving milk is the license itself, lol.
