That’s not what that article says.
Not-catering is not the same as purposely alienating.
It’s also about Rogue One, not TLJ.

he said "monumentally effing terrible on every single conceivable level s just a violent crime against popular culture. It stays with the viewer"
the prequels were bad but they had good elements. they had good characters. they had good sets, they had good creature designs, they had good costumes, they had good memorable music. they had good spaceship designs, the world felt much bigger in those movies, the universe felt lived in and vast
This movie feels claustrophobic, it feels small. you are traveling through space and across planets and it feels extremely small and closed in. as big as the ships are and as big as the planets are, it feels... small. Almost feels like a tv version of a Star wars movie, a made for tv movie.
whatever good it has it was brought over from Force awakens, it brought nothing new that was cool (If you liked Rey Finn or Poe, those were characters established in the last one so it doesnt count, but the new characters like Holdo Rose and DJ were pretty bad)
and characters you were hopeful for like Luke Kylo and snoke were diminished. the sets werent memorable and some were horrible (casino) the action was not that great. there was nothing really innovative or cool as a stand alone characteristic of this movie. anything cool about it was either brought from the last one or from the first trilogy.
Rian Jhonson didnt really break new ground with this movie. he didnt create anything unique or cool. nothing in this movie stands out as great.
The Porgs, the greatest NEW thing this movie could ever had, were created by the special effects artists in order to disguise birds in the island. even the only new cool thing about the movie was an accident.
say what you will about the prequels but they had a lot of cool set designs and a lot of cool creature designs. visually the movie was very big, expanded a lot on the universe.
Otomofan was right
The dissapointing TLJ box office might be the only way to take down Kennedy.
Here's hoping Disney behaves like Disney and reminds Kennedy money is more important to them than Leftist propaganda.
Surely you jest.
firing a woman, a woman of Power? In THIS day and age...
Holy ****, he even goes onto a dolly forum to defend his crappy movie.
Hey bro, before you go, is there any chance of a Looper 2?
Hey! This is Rian Johnson. I hacked this nerds account.
First off I want to say **** you guys and secondly I’d like to say yes. I did ruin this movie. So what? I got a paycheck. I’m living it up. You guys will argue until the next one and see that. So screw you guys. Star Wars sucked and Luke is a whiny brat. I killed him off and you can’t do anything about it. Either you except it or you make a fan movie retconning this flick. No gonna matter. I’m still making money. As for Kathleen, we pretty much feel the same way. Don’t know why I got the job. I always said Star Wars sucked.
We’ll see you nerds for episode 9. O and you can tell anyone I said this. Who’s gonna believe you .
I don’t care if it underperformed. The look of despair in your faces is more than money can buy

Khev hardly has to do anything to get the herd into a frenzy.
And I love that Hamill himself has taken to trolling the haters.
He and Johnson are clearly having a ball. Good times.

Just read an article about rotten Tomatoes and it’s adjusted scores - apparently the two best films of last year - critically- were last Jedi and war for the planet of the apes.
Both being great films apparently.
Interestingly for me I saw both of these about a week apart - apes on dvd - and hated both of them.
Both failed to deliver on what came before and relied heavily on nostalgia for much older films.
Apes was light on stormy, plodding and had huge plot holes. Sound familiar?
But both liked pretty and had great cinematography.
And I love that Disney has forced Hamill himself to have taken to trolling the haters.
