So what will happen with TLJ? You thinks it will change the franchise?

IMO Luke will use his saber.....but secondary to his force powers.....

I always had this crazy feeling that Luke did actually fall from the light when he gave into the Emperors taunts and attempted to kill him......

I was hoping this would be the crux of Luke's story. How you can fall into the dark and use the powers there but still return to the light.....which to me is the whole "grey" idea. Some people, cannot remain grey and take the easy path "manipulation, violence, and fear" while others may tap into those , but their main modus operandi is doing good for people they care about.

The only way Luke was able to beat Vader was using his anger and fear...its very very clear in ROTJ this is how he wins......using anger and fear when Vader threatens Leia.

By the time we reach TLJ , I think Luke understands this , and knows he thinks most people are unable to balance this and knows it takes only one person who falls into the dark side to unleash devastation on a galactic scale.

So his answer......stop all force users.
His looks at Rey (I think he know exactly who she is and how strong she is) and he fears if he trains her he could just be training another Kylo, who will give into the negative emotions in life and take the easy way. So he basically does not want to even try....

BTW this fits with Kylo and his backstory....I maintain Kylo was a troubled neglected kid, with absent parents and anger issues, who was left with a power he didn't understand, emotions he didn't want, and an Uncle who couldn't help him deal with it all......

Snoke comes along with his own agenda, and manipulated this lonely troubled kid into doing his bidding....

Sound familiar?

This is my story and I am sticking to it...

Thanks for your considerations .....

Except for the first part. We don't need the part about beating Vader with anger. Just pick up where he started training people and saw something go wrong and that he fears creating another Vader.

You people are in for a terrible let down in this movie- bet he's onscreen maybe ten minutes and not much action- all jabering about the force, etc etc

Very Dark Empire-ish (which Lucas at one point said was similar to what he'd have done with the ST).

I also wonder whether Dooku was doing the same thing, trying to bring down Sidious from within. Would explain that scene with Obi-Wan.

Plagueis would be the least of the offenses I was ok with how they left it, was Palpatine lying to Anakin all along about the secret to cheat death or did he really learn it from Plagueis.

He even implied that Anakin's mom was impregnated by the dark side hence the very obvious sperm opera lol. That not so subtle opera was a great backdrop for all the manipulative actions Palpatine was using to create his new apprentice.

It's definately one of the best scenes in the PT so i'm ok with it being so ambiguous.

Personally the immaculate conception thing was the most laughable concept in PT.

I find Jar Jar as a senator more satisfying and realistic.

Immaculate conception in a space non-sci-fi fantasy setting is as realistic as abiogenesis. :dunno

I mean, what's next? Krull's Fire Mares are less satisfying and realistic than Ergo the Magnificent?

Must've been too subtle for me, I never noticed the sperm motif!

Speaking of metaphors, been thinking lately how Vader was the personification of the merging of the Trade Federation's "technological terror" with the Republic's organics.

True, but if the current films don't explain it by making Snoke Plagueis it'll be a missed opportunity.
