Many people have made this point many times, but it bears repeating: Darth Vader in Star Wars was NOT Anakin Skywalker. He was a guy literally named first name Darth last name Vader. He wasn't complex or deep; he was just a villain of the week type guy in a black cape.

"The Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker" didn't exist. It was all made up on the fly. It's obvious and clear that the pieces don't really fit over the original trilogy. It's even worse when you add the prequel trilogy, and the "bad ass killing machine" in RO was just laughable video game nonsense.

PS....these new movies are also being made up on the fly. Abrams never had any backstory in mind for Snoke or Rey. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

Power level was over 9000 but still failed getting the plans back.

Darth Vader.

Forever a henchman.

lol at RO.

Well that’s been settled lol

Regardless, it's not really a debatable point since the portrayal did happen. Shaw is Vader. Vader being an old man in ROTJ is just a fact that cannot be reasoned around.

Yep, and Christensen is young Vader. A fact that cannot be reasoned around.

Well, technically if Lucas had hired Kathy Bates or Carrot-top to be Anakin Skywalker, they would be young Vader. Doesn't mean it would be a good choice.

JYE, photoshop of Carrot-top in Vader outfit, stat! :lol

Vader was always so compelling because of his subtlety. The Vader we saw in the OT; a strong and tacturn military commander whose deep seated anger is hidden by an ironically strong degree of emotional restraint does not match with the PT's portrayal in the slightest.

Darth Vader is a loyal cog in the Empire's military machine; driven by control, restraint, and discipline. Hayden's immaturity was the exact opposite of this.

I agree 100%. Every single thing outside of the OOT has only taken away from the character. Even the waste of him in that horrible Rogue One fan made garbage.

Shaw ain't even that much better than Lloyd and Christensen.

Little ****ing weazy voiced, caterpillar eyebrow wearing, pasty old ******. What a disappointment.

Once Vader ceased being David Prowse and James Earl Jones, he kinda sucks.

I vividly remember being very disappointed when Luke took the helmet off. He was all nice and wholesome looking, like a grandpa. It was a mistake to remove it. He should have died with the helmet on. Or remove the helmet and shoot the scene from behind, so we don't see his face, just Luke's reaction.

The worst part of this assignment was having to google Carrot Top.

Holy crap he makes Amy Shumer look like a playboy playmate.

His transformation looks absolutely terrifying.

Not a bad idea, but it takes away the ending where Anakin, Ben, and Yoda are reunited and at peace, which is a perfect ending.
