2 movies have ever made me leave angry: This and IM3 (mandarin/remote pilot suit/armors are balsa wood now)

I left angry.

Funny. I had the exact same feeling with IM3 as I did with this, with IM 3 i felt like the point if the movie was to subvert expectations, like the director took it upon himself to "show us", you know? Now looking at this I cant help but think rian was aware of what fans were expecting and turned all that on its head simply to mess with our expectations. I may sound petty but how hard could it have been to service the fandom a bit? I felt insulted. Anyways I guess I can have the toys and make up my own head cannon and try to forget the bad stuff, maybe I can edit my own cut when the blu ray comes out :lol

Sometimes I think I come here to see what people hate to know what i'll like. Seen it a couple of times now, going to the Imax to see again tomorrow. It has some problems, things I didn't like. Mostly I thought it was a good movie and so did the sold out theater I was in. I hope some company makes the crystal dogs like they did the porgs. I want one of those.

Nailed it.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Lots of TLJ hate and disappointment here...which is everyone's right. As a life long Star Wars fan I am perhaps in the lucky minority that can say that I loved the latest Star Wars movie so whatever Rian Johnson did certainly worked for some of us. Thing is when you read a couple of chapters in a book and the story does not go the way you though it was going you don't get upset you simply realize the book is not for you and you stop reading and move on to something else. Maybe it's time for some folks who thought they that they were going to like Star Wars to accept that it was not meant to be.

Yup. This.

This movie just proves the rebels are out to destroy the galaxy, Rose proved it, oh she didnt like the wealthy guys because guess what they made their living off selling arms to the empire boo hoo, lets destroy them and ruin them, and everyone though they were the heroes...

And **** literally the entire rebellion because she needed to get her rocks off with Finn... And how the **** did she retreat, and not only make up the distance with finn but go faster as she had to pull out to come from the side? I guees the DS cannon slowed him? I dunno seemed cheese

SNIKT deserves the hazing he is getting since he has been talking like he actually knows wth is going on bts when he is just another fanboy who wishes so hard that his fan fiction comes true.

That said, one can really see the ugly side of SW fandom over here now.

I remember how two years ago when everyone was theorizing if Rey was a Skywalker or a Kenobi, people were like that is so unoriginal as that would be too obvious and the galaxy is a lot more bigger than that.

Now that it was revealed that Rey is a nobody and just a force sensitive individual (which was already established in the PT that they are many Force sensitive children and beings out there) everyone loses their mind when it was probably the boldest move there is. A zero to a hero. That is the quintessential path of the Hero's journey.

I like how Luke deconstruct the most hated aspect of the PT (midi-chlorian) and essentially brought back the OT explanation of the Force where it is everywhere and binds us and that everyone has the potential to harness it. Heck that was infact Lucas original explanation of the Force before he did that PT crap on midi-chlorian). I really don't know how that flew over the head of OT fans. I actually thought everyone will be happy that they reestablished that for the canon.

I remember when AOTC came out people were crying about how someone like Yoda shouldn't need to use his lightsaber and jumping around like a monkey and he should have showed his mastery in the Force for his encounter with Dooku. Rian now gave us that and now you guys wants Luke to jump around like a monkey with a lightsaber.

I also remember how months ago people here were talking about how they don't really wanna see Luke jumping around or spinning around like Yoda slaying everything in his path cause he will look like an *** due to his age. And in this movie they gave us a look into a higher form of Jedi battle which is perfect for Luke and people are now crying that Luke did not jump around slaying the FO

I just watched it a third time today and I really love it. The cinema I was in was packed with fans and everyone had a really great time especially Luke battle with Kylo. No one felt it was a cop out or cheesy. People actually felt he was able to show how much more powerful he is compared to Kylo and also shows his mastery of the Force to the point that he doesn't need to meet you hand to hand. Meeting Kylo heads on is just bowing down to Kylo's level.

Luke outsmart and outplayed Kylo like how Obi Wan and Yoda would have.

Rian also takes a lot of inspiration from the EU which is also something I thought more people would like but it is becoming more and more clear that people really just want ANH 2.0 ESB 2.0 and ROTJ 2.0. Then people really should have whined less about TFA being ANH 2.0.

But really, make up your ****ing mind SW fans.

Well said. It is truly aggravating to be counted among Star Wars fans these days. Because I cannot stand how hypocritical and whiny the fandom is. The hate and vitriol is not only unfounded but extremely exhausting.

With that though also comes people reffering to those who have issues with the film "haters and vitriolic" when they could simply be venting about something theyre passionate about, lines on both sides

And yet your hate for the haters is just as paradoxically prominent.

that literally sounds like J.J. Abrams and Lost BS and J.J. Abrams whole "magical secret box" garbage that he brags about

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

I am glad you liked it - I really have nothing against people who liked the film but I think you are making assumptions about why people didn't like the movie when people are clearly stating the reasons and that most of us agree with the others. I liked TFA, Rogue One and The original trilogy but this movie just didn't make the cut. I do think it is better than the Prequels but that isn't saying much. I am curious if you are younger and grew up with the prequels or if you are my age and were born in the 70s that grew up with the original - just curious

Just a side note - while it is true that there are a lot more people that haven't seen it but looking at the stats- Critics who rated it 94% were total of 269 reviews, Audience that has rated it at 57% are 64,000 so far

I saw ESB in the theater. I was born in 1977. I enjoy the OT, but they are not the final word. This is cheesy pop entertainment. Not high art. People take this way too seriously. I'm not trying to lump all the negativity toward TLJ as a monolith, but when people say that it's the worst movie they've ever seen, it's really hard to take them seriously. I somehow believe that they wanted to hate it before it ever came out.

Pretty much, but it seemed more like JJ set up questions in TFA to keep us engaged and wondering, Rian seems to have pretty much disregarded all of those questions and made the answers very lackluster, he killed the wonder TFA introduced

Pot meet kettle.

you understand me so well, it is delicious

No, it's because they had high expectations. You don't hate something you were apathetic about. You hate it because you were excited about it, then let down beyond anything you could have thought of.

I'd imagine most people would say "TFA wasn't the greatest thing ever (I liked it) but I didn't hate it".

:lol :lol :lol

Seriously though, Craig's statement accurately sums up how I felt about most of the last Thor movie on my first viewing.

The only two movies I liked as a whole this year were Pirates 5 and Homecoming. I didn't even see JL or TLJ so I'm not hating on those movies. :lol
