Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

That scene made me realised that Rey was in love with Finn or so? She looks jealous when she saw Finn caring for Rose.

I don't think it was her being in love with Finn so much as her remembering Kylo's words that she didn't belong anywhere or mean anything to anyone except him and wondering how much truth there is to that.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Leia's ability to pull herself to a door is the same ability as any Jedi or Sith when they 'grab' a lighsaber and it flies across the room. Which seems like a day 1 lesson, and that lesson took leia 30 years' and a near death experience to learn. Not sure how that makes her have 'super' jedi powers.

I guess, but is defrosting one's self also a jedi ability? I've seen some inconsistency in jedi powers a few times, but force defrost...

Force push and pull are definitely not day 1 lessons, see "the last jedi" for reference. I don't think it was the day 2 lesson either.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

My favorite comment my buddy made was calling Leia the "Space Witch".

No disrespect , but there is no Leia without Carrie..big mistake having Leia live and Luke die. Even with phenomenal CG effects in EP IX , how can they possibly pull off having Leia ..now I know they figured originally, Carrie would film EP IX , but they could’ve changed Leia’s fate after her passing. :thud:

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

If only Luke had done the universe a giant favour and killed the annoying Kylo in his sleep.

One of the few things TLJ got right in my opinion was giving Kylo some actual teeth. He's still no Vader but he came out of TLJ a much more menacing villain than the walking temper tantrum that got punked by a nobody in TFA.

She won't be in XI (if the news I read are true, they will not be digitally adding her on screen like R1.), I think they'll write her death off screen or something.

y’all nuts, I guess i’m a disney pleb. :lol

loved this more than TFA, and it’s upnthere with the OT for me. I just love how different it is, it felt new, fresh even.

It seems reception among fans is starting to warm up.

I’m outta here though, there’s just too many sweaty, cringey, meltdowns over a simple movie. :lol

Force defrost is totally a thing but it was mostly used by the Jedi chefs in the Jedi Academy cafeteria.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

I think the movie would have been way better if Kylo and Rey had joined forces to rule the galaxy. Then have a showdown between them and Luke in the next one. I just don't get where they are going with the story now, I mean Rey already tried to turn Kylo. Are we gonna do that again in 9, and have to watch another duel between two half trained Jedi? It's like we're going in circles.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

That kid at the end should have flown off on that broom so that the film could join the Potterverse where this silly nonsense of a movie would belong.

I just got done seeing it a few minutes ago.

Coming to this forum was the second thing I did after seeing this. The first was calling a plastic surgeon to schedule an emergency appointment to surgically remove the permanent cringe that is now on my face.

Kind of lame considering they already showed Leia’s force powers unleashed ..to completely write her off after that. That’s either an insult or respect to Carrie, but perhaps that maybe the reason Luke was killed off..maybe they thought without Carrie, there is no reason to keep Luke around without Han and Leia :dunno

I remember playing KOTOR the first time and getting 'force defrost'. I never did figure out what it was for, now I know.

This isn't SW for SW fans, it's SW for millennials, newcomers and other non-SW veterans.

The thread is fun....so much anger.

From the people defending this movie, I assume, the rest of us are just sad and disappointed, and some are even having a lol with some good memes, bless you Prince, I'm still lulzing at the Snoke quote.

The people defending this movie either go for the "you hate everything", or the forced :lols to hide their discomfort at the general consensus.

Well, they killed off all important OT characters already. It's just sad that Akbar got killed off screen as well.

But we'll just wait for JJ to address about Leia in the future.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

It’s like a common thread in these sequels — regular people with no Jedi training whatsoever exhibiting extraordinary Jedi talent and skill. Why even have Jedi schools when a scavenger can defeat a heavily trained Sith Lord in lightsaber combat. Or when a septagenarian can regain consciousness in space after sustaining traumatic (don’t even mind fatal) laser cannon blast and fly like Hopeman amid the debris. If Leia is also a Jedi and she’s alive, who’s the last Jedi. Or if it’s all up to the Force to manifest itself in any character can there really be a “Last Jedi?”

:rotfl:rotfl

I know a cheap one.

So how did Rey come to get that lightsaber? She got it from lemon butthole face. OK. How did SHE get it?

JJ doesn't care. Rian doesn't care. Not important.

To be fair, I do think JJ was just assuming the next director would come up with good answers. He didn't put in place all this for nothing (Snoke, Rey's mystery origin, etc...).

The problem is, at some point during the production of VIII, I remember Lucasfilm made it very clear that they were pretty much going in blind for each episode.
It's not like the MCU where everything is planned out years in advance. They gave the reigns to Rian Johnson without much requirements, and he was free to do whatever he wanted as long as Kathleen Kennedy approved.

My new avatar represents how thrilled I am about all this. RIP Snoke. I loved you from the start.
