The important question is did any one of us want to hate it... No in fact I'm actually hurt by the film. Indy and Luke were my childhood heroes and seeing what they have done to them is sad. I'm not enjoying the bashing at all, I would rather have had this be a good movie.

Star Wars has always been something for all of us as fans and a community to love, enjoy, and have fun with.

This recent film is so divisive for a reason, it's simply a bad movie and an even more terrible Star Wars film.

Absolutely. For me the bashing is just a way to cope with all this. Star Wars is just one of my passions, but it's a big one I have had since I was 11.
Watching this all unfold after all the promises of TFA (which had its flaws but still let things open for one the most insane sequels ever put on screen), it's heartbreaking.

Child slavery was OK though. In fact, it had a cute ending.

Those kids will be fine as they are from this generation. If they can't hack it in Jedi school they will at least get a participation trophy. And if the trophy ain't enough they can sue the Jedi school for excluding them based on their midichlorian deficit disorder.

I went to see this with my 9 yr old. I was more excited than him LOL! but the disappointment is real and I think most of us "bashing" are really just venting at the idiots who made this mess of a film

OMG that was awesome!! :rotfl

At one point you liked it. I can't remember which show.

Well it is better than Thunderdome so that like probably came after revisiting BT.

I’m just trolling with the hate but it’s still to RW what TLJ is to ESB.

The movie has already been forgotten anyways just as fast as 2046 was.

The expression I had on my face waiting in front the theater was probably similar to the one I had the first time I went to Disneyland when I was 7-8.
That's how ****ing excited I was. Flashing images of Luke wielding his lightsaber in incredible battles, of Snoke floating in the air unleashing the most insane dark side powers...

And then... I actually watched the movie.

I don't disagree with the bashing, it's justified for what they done to the story and the characters. Just sad it came to this.

7.8 on IMDB, so now it's matching RO.

Next target: ROTS 7.6.

True position: The Ewok Adventures 5.5.

Wonder why this level of backlash didn’t immediately happen opening weekend with TFA that movie is worse than TLJ, no?

Sure there was the Mary Sue angle but the hate for TLJ has almost reached a fever pitched level of someone offering a reward for the first protector of SW to kill Kathleen Kennedy.

JAWS you said that you prefer this to TFA and you hate TLJ.

Why do you think it took this long for the anti ST nuke to go off?

While TFA wasn't a legitimate Star Wars film it was nevertheless coherent.

TLJ is, on the other hand, comprised of outtakes.

I wonder why Ackbar didn't get to do the stellar hyperdrive-ram into Snoke's ship? Why create Holdo just for that?

Erik Bauersfeld who voiced Ackbar in ROTJ, TFA, and TLJ died April 2016. When I saw how quickly he was written out of the movie after just the one scene I couldn't help but assume that that he most likely passed before any more dialogue could be recorded.

Because of the Kathleen Kennedy agenda.

Laura Dern has been a solid actress for decades. I don't see how anyone could count her (or Del Toro) as diversity hires.

TFA set up Luke Skywalker's return, didn't ruin the character.
TFA set up Snoke, didn't ruin the character.
TFA still had the right tone for a Star Wars movie.
TFA was quite coherent compared to TLJ, and not one scene is comparable to the Canto Bight stuff.
No forced love story.
Actual lightsaber fight (a small one yes, but still).
TFA didn't turn Force ghosts into all powerful beings to create plot holes in everything that came before.
I could go on and on...

Sure it was a rehash, but it was a well made one, imo. It was Star Wars.

Hmmm I wonder what Disney will do when JEJ dies.

Is 'forgotten' the right word? It's been used in relation to Logan aswell. More likely it's simply more interesting and fun to talk about crap films or films that otherwise failed to live up to hype and expectations than it is to talk about good films.

I can't get over how surprising this whole thing is. Literally 5 days ago I loooooooved Rian Johnson and felt he was the best thing to happen to SW since JJ agreed to direct VII. All his works up until this were great and the news that they were giving him his own trilogy only reinforced my belief that he was going to deliver the greatest SW movie of all time. The one that would finally top ESB.

It's a damn shame to say that Johnson is now someone I heavily dislike and that his contribution to SW is one massive middle finger to the franchise and a crushing blow to it's mythos.

TLJ is a nightmare. It's something I just didn't think was possible. That a group of idiotic people would butcher the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Master Yoda.

But that's life. Constant dissapointment.

Nah forgotten, the studio said it bombed no more MM movies ever lol.
