I found the scene to be fine, it wasn’t what was needed at the moment. Because it was delivered by a female doesn’t make the message wrong.

That said, the continual withholding of info to the point of mutiny was unnecessary both in terms of Poe and story.

the scene in a vacuum was "fine", and I can get past the SJW stuff if the movie is good. But the entire movie was preachy and made a point of portraying the majority of the male characters as buffoons, hot heads, emotionally unstable and whiney old men, while the women were the balanced and thoughtful saviors. or did you miss that?

and with the exception of Phasma, 99% of the first order were white guys, while 99% of the rebellion were women and/or minorities. It was all very forced and contrived... and when you put all the social justice messages on top of a heaping pile of a crappy movie with poor character development it's just even more annoying.

WW and Atomic Blonde were done right with strong female leads and good story telling. Disney get out your pencil and pad and see how it's done right. Heck I'll send KK a Blu-Ray of both if she wants to take notes LOL!!

And Leia in 77 telling off the top white man in control was any different?

yes. that movie wasn't about teaching us a lesson. TLJ was out to make a point. As others have noted, why create a character for Holdo's role when you have Ackbar, Lando etc who could fulfill the position? it was plain as day Holdo was a forced female lead, unnecessary part of the story. I don't need politics or preaching in my star wars, just give me a good story.

I saw many lessons in SW 77.

Remember the decade it was released in.

Want just one example?

Vader was all black right?

Tarkin white right?

What was Leia’s famous line again oh that’s right....

“Governor Tarkin, I should have expected to find you holding Vader’s leash”

there are two very big differences between the 2 movies

the original one in 77 was actually a good movie with some subtle social messaging. TLJ was a hot pile of garbage with massive plot holes and poor character development, and the icing on top was the forced SJW messaging.

anyway that's my perspective. you're welcome to have your views and I respect that

You mean, slips away with class.

Perhaps. Some movies make loads of dough and get bucketloads of figures made. Others have to contend with simply being taught in future film classes.

The injustice of it all.

...as we all lock eyes with a subtle, knowing nod and ignore that fact that EVERYONE in ANH was white. Like... every... single... person.:lol

Enjoy your Hasbro figure lol.

As long as SW Master Khev likes I know that i’m in good hands.

Would’ve been nice if JAWS had liked it but he lives upstate NY so I forgive him.

:lol :lol :lol

Much better movie that had a strong female character that did not preach at you... She was just a greatly written and realized character.

Almost funny except there are those that really saw some subtle racism in Vader being Black and James Earl Jones doing the voice.. Somehow ignoring the white Stormtroopers and Caucasian military...

The backlash is gaining momentum... The "Have Disney strike Star Wars Episode VIII" is about to hit 27k already. :lol
