If he was so powerful he would have saw that coming. What a waste of a character

Oh you mean just like Palpatine saw Vader coming?

Still the most powerful Sith in canon, and Snoke seemed even more powerful.

Kylo was sneaky and made him believe something else, that's it.

Snoke was basically telling you what was going to happen to him before it did. He'll be back in a different form. Mark my words

If JJ can pull that off while integrating Snoke back into the story in a way that still feels like Star Wars and is coherent, I’ll be very impressed.
Rian Johnson really made the task complicated for him. It’s not even that Snoke died in VIII instead of IX, but this movie should have been slower paced, giving him a proper backstory and a lot more to do before dying (and yeah, I know, Palpatine was treated the same way in the OT, that’s doesn’t make it a good idea, plus we then got the prequels + Clone Wars).
Rian tried to cram two movies into one, with early resolutions or resolutions that didn’t need to be there.

Palpatine was blinded by his victory moment torturing Luke.

Snoke was backstabbed (or sidestabbed). If Conor McGregor gets jumped from behind and stabbed, does that make him any less of a fighting virtuoso?

You saw during the movie that Kylo was Snoke's b1tch, it's one of the few things Rian Johnson did really well. Plus when you surround yourself with elite guards like that, it also means that you are confident you could defeat all of them at once in case of betrayal. Kylo + Rey badly struggled against those guys.

Wait for new canon regarding Snoke, he is most likely the most powerful character in the saga outside of Luke.

I just feel like they didn't develop Kylo enough to be a believable leader / big bad going forward!

I think this concept of balance is also pretty dumb as basically they're saying there will always be conflict between light and dark and therefore never peace in the galaxy.

I just really don't see anywhere for Episode 9 to go tbh! I don't think we're going to get a satisfying conclusion.

Were not unless they pull a true way to be different and have Snoke be alive and Rey turn to the Darkside and set up more movies. And thats 99% not gonna happen, Rian did too much damage. Its bad guys, really really bad. Try not to listen to the apologists on this site, it's for collecting toys and it's still mostly hated. In the weeks and months to come you're gonna see backlash like we've never seen before. And to the ones that say "oh Disney don't care they're already making $, LOL you don't get that that's not what it's going to boil down to, AND then you will see thats what it's going to boil down to.
(get it? didn't think so) You don't just ruin SW without consequences.

(Hint...... Internetwebz has power)

Yep and I loved his line to Finn and Poe "eh, they blow you up today, you'll blow them up tomorrow," right in front of Hux and Phasma. :lol So awesomely meta while openly belittling both sides at the same time. Dude was badass. :rock

Lol! Vampire SNOKT wearing an "I love Rey" shirt. This thread is somehow even better than the legendary JL thread just prior to that film's release, lol.

I think Junkion is sporting a Snoke vampire signature :lol

And who cares if this makes a billion or two in cash? The REAL DAMAGE will be shown later as the fans don’t show up in force to the follow-up movies. That box office will continue to shrink.

This.

Johnson and Kennedy have soured the taste of SW for fans with this film and the repercussions are already evident.

And what is the point of Rey turning to the darkside and setting up for more movies if she is just NO ONE?

THIS IS THE SKYWALKER SAGA! Not random tramp girl junky left over saga. I don't give a flying **** for anymore saga films if the bloodline is dead. Why can't people get their head around this fact, if there aren't anymore Skywalkers there are no more films, at least note in terms of the Episodes.

Well JJ would have to change that. But i agree there's just too much damage done.

And i don't think they understand how much yet. They tried sooooo hard to distance themselves from the PT, and then they pull this ****. (dont get it)

Han and Leia should have had twins, a daughter and a son. That would have carried the legacy forward.
Luke in my opinion didn't need to have a child, at least not in the traditional sense. I don't believe he would have abandoned the Jedi ways to start a family. So if he had a child it would need to be an adopted child or one he created by manipulating the force.

They could have even made it that Anakin was a twin but his Mum had to give one of them up at birth as she couldn't afford two children. This would also extend the potential for more Skywalkers in the galaxy.

Sooooooooooo much could have been done with this trilogy, especially with a 30+ year time jump, but no, one child and a failed relationship and the most powerful Jedi since the PT reduced to an old man hiding on an island to die. If he wanted to die so bad why not jump off the cliff?

What happened to Kathleen Kennedy saying "Twins run in the Skywalker family"?

Where the **** are they then *****, cause all I see is Luke and ****ing Lea!

I've said this before, I don't think IX can be a 10/10 at this point. Johnson made irreparable damage to the franchise with TLJ. For JJ to land at an achievable 9/10, he'll need to basically retcon most of TLJ.

It's what I'm honestly expecting from IX: a movie that makes the TLJ apologists hate life for defending a movie that after 2 years will be mostly ignored.

The trouble is, Kathleen has given these directors too much freedom! They had no plan or structure as to how they wanted this trilogy to go, so why even have a storyboard?

They should have laid down some ground work for the directors to follow. This is who Rey is, this is who Snoke is etc etc.
The fact that JJ set up all these storylines for RJ to be able to come in and **** all over them is ridiculous and he has left no where for the story to go so now JJ really has his work cut out.

They did, as in Jaina and Jacen. And a little brother, Anakin.

Chuck out Disney's badly conceived canon and they still do.

Johnson shares his response to the backlash. Here it is, in full:

"Having been a Star Wars fan my whole life, and having spent most of my life on the other side of the curb and in that fandom, it softens the blow a little bit.

I’m aware through my own experience that, first of all, the fans are so passionate, they care so deeply — sometimes they care very violently at me on Twitter. But it’s because they care about these things, and it hurts when you’re expecting something specific and you don’t get it from something that you love. It always hurts, so I don’t take it personally if a fan reacts negatively and lashes out on me on Twitter. That’s fine. It’s my job to be there for that. Like you said, every fan has a list of stuff they want a Star Wars movie to be and they don’t want a Star Wars movie to be. You’re going to find very few fans out there whose lists line up.

And I also know the same way the original movies were personal for Lucas. Lucas never made a Star Wars movie by sitting down and thinking, “What do the fans want to see?” And I knew if I wrote wondering what the fans would want, as tempting as that is, it wouldn’t work, because people would still be shouting at me, “F— you, you ruined Star Wars,” and I would make a bad movie. And ultimately, that’s the one thing nobody wants.

And let me just add that 80-90% of the reaction I’ve gotten from Twitter has been really lovely. There’s been a lot of joy and love from fans. When I talk about the negative stuff, that’s not the full picture of the fans at all."
